I think the height issue is slightly misleading. I would set the bag to my shoulder height when I am standing tall and then when go into fighting stance you end up punching just above shoulder height. The bag is not really substitue of the opponents head in boxing as the opponents will (rarely) use their head to strike you! The bag is a conditioning tool not a simulation tool (such as sparring).
@Easyandy100 I am glad you stated "I think" because we are all entitled to our own opinions even if the are not "factual" based a good double end bag will not "substitute" an opponents head but it should function as a moving target just like a decent fighter will move his head to avoid being hit. And last I checked using ones head to strike is illegal in boxing. As to the bag being a conditioning tool, the bag does offer conditioning depending on how it is utilized.
@FightChannel We haven't really disagreed anything. I agree the bag should be set at the height of your opponent but that would be dependent on your weight class.
@Easyandy100 great I am glad it worked out better for you that way, we must always experiment in order to find a way to make it work better, youtubedotcom/user/GRIMZGYM
GREAT VIDEO BUT HOW CAN I ADJUST MY BAGS HEIGHT AND TENTION EXACTLY, BECAUSE IS CAME WITH BUNJI CORDS AND A METAL S HOOK AT THE ENDS, SO IT CANT REALLY BE ADJUSTED.
Although punching UP is good practice, having the bag height above ur head makes the bag come back OVER ur head--not straight at u as needed to work proper slipping. thanks
I just started boxing about a month ago and I am awful at working the double bag. I usually either hit it too hard or miss a lot of the places. either way, it goes all over the place and I miss those punches.
so if i use this will it make a big difference in my sparring abilities? will i be able to slip and duck and block better in a real fight? also, how much space is required?
I found this to be very informitive. if you listen and can understand what this man is telling us you will see that the proper use of equipment can improve your skills. Just as the improper use can retart your groth
you're an idiot...there were plenty of edits in that sequence so it's impossible to tell how long he was going...and secondly you probably don't realize how much boxing takes out of you in just a short time.
Hey, I am thinking about getting one, but idk how I mount it to the floor and ceiling, and if I order one, if it will come with everything I need to set it up, etc. Can you help me out?
hey you have alot of very usfull tips i taped my heavy bag up from your other video and i liked this one also im a muay thai boxer though and these videos work just as well for it. Just curious do u belong to a gym? have u ever competed before?
I tend to use 16oz bag gloves too, as this is the weight I'm fighting with. Helps with hand speed, too. I don't understand hitting the bag with light-weight gloves or just wraps, but lots of people do it so perhaps it's just me.
THIS ACUALLY WORKS!!!! 1.)say the name of your crush 2 times 2.)say the name of your bestfriend 5 times 3.)post this onto 5 other videos and then press f8 and then ur crushes name will appear on the screen.!!
this is excellent!! i just started with the double ned bag and got some great pointers from you. Ihave added this video to my favorites so i can refer to it often. I've also taken your advice about psi and let some of the air out of my speed bag and what a difference!! thank you for sharing your knowledge!!!
Yea my coach has his pretty tensed but i will mention it two him,he pretty expirienced so he probably nows,if u wanna check out my first fight its in my videos.
I've been thinking about starting boxing for about a year now, after watching ur videos i am definitely atleast going to try it out man, good work on these vids!
Hey FightChannel(Grim), did you ever think about being a boxing coach? I think you would be great, you are very knowledgeable and would be great for any professional or amateur boxer. Ok, got to go in my basement and raise my heavybag, from what you've explained, mines is to low, thanks Sifu.
Great video. The part about the tension is right on. In the boxing gyms most double end bags are too tight. Where as in the martial arts gyms they move just as you described. This is the most complete video on the subject i've seen.
Thanks boxingforthestreet! I have seen your work and I commend you, the thing is most people take it as it is, I on the other hand like to experiment and find the best routes depending on the tasks
