I like what ML did with Mary's character when she went blind. Because in real life, the real Mary's family all took care of her til the day she died. She never married, had children or anything. In the series, ML wanted to develop her character into "what if's" If she was independent, had fallen in love and gotten married, became a teacher. Did all the things a sighted person could still do. True her character was put through so much, but out of all of them I think her's was a test of faith.

I'm wondering how Charles and Caroline could afford to send Mary to blind school; surely it cost alot for that time. And weren't they really having financial problems at the time. Maybe it was explained earlier and I missed it.

THere was no Adam in the real life story of the Ingalls. She stayed homw with Ma and Pa in South Dakota and died under her sister Carrie's care.
