  • I don't know why, but the very fact that Brian Blessed exists and is allowed to be famous makes me feel proud to be British.

  • Sean has gone down twice, I'm afraid that's a knock out for him. Oh and fuck BBC.

  • If Stephen Fry had his way none of these shows would be blocked, God damn BBC ruining everything :(.

  • Dear BBC: I am not from the UK. I do not get QI at all in my country due to legal reasons. My country is too famous, uptight, and crazy about censorship. Yes, you guessed it, it is USA. Please, be kind enough to share the information with people who cannot watch it around the world. I can't even find the newer DVD sets for Region 1.

This is the only way I HAVE TO SEE the genius your country provides. Please be kind and let your elves enlighten us with laughter and knowledge.

  • You should also upload the videos onto Vemio. They tend not to monitor it as much. So if you start getting harassed by the BBC, start linking options to there.

    Love the uploads!

  • Ross Noble has a very comedic nose, it's great : D

  • For every episode the BBC blocks, the dumber the world becomes.

  • 1:23 Sean Lock casually masturbating under the desk

  • @TheFloorFillers It does look very mich like that doesn't it. It's not even as if he could be polishing his glasses, they're on his face...

  • brian is as mad as a bag of cats, i love him!

  • Its sad that BBC is starting to block QI on youtube, its the only way I can see the show!

  • ahhh QI you give us so much hope for humanity.

  • I always thought Raven was full of it in MGS1, when going on about the ear pull.

  • I guess Fry hasn't seen Lock's standup. Didn't catch the Riddler reference.

  • what happened to episode 14?

  • @z8yred the BBC are slowly blocking them. One every couple of days.

  • @quite1nteresting must... kill...BBC!

  • @quite1nteresting Wankers!

  • where are the other episodes

  • @iammynumberonefan97 BBC is starting to block the episodes

  • @quite1nteresting oh that's a shame (

do they really think people won't be able to find the episodes they want in the internet?

  • why the barkin hell do i find the idea of setting penguins on fire utterly amusing?

  • I think it's smart that you put this under Category: Education

  • i have to agree with you.....Alan hits the mark almost everytime and lets the other people speak with intelligence before he comes is with stellar jokes

  • I really hope they don't replace Alan with Ross like the commenters think. Although I like Ross I think he'd be obnoxious to see in every single episode, he tries (mostly successfully) very hard to be funny and ends up interrupting other panelists.

  • Brian's pronunciation of the volcano will be a ringtone on my phone ASAP.

  • @SuziePenguin it's BRIAN!!! not "Brian"

  • We Wish You a Merry Christmas ... in the Lydian mode? Seriously, why did they give Alan a #4?

  • @aeternamente13 In response to myself, I've figured it out! They must only have one octave of bells with only members of the major scale (no chromatic pitches). The melody We Wish You a Merry Christmas descends to the "sol" below the tonic, so in order to keep the whole thing in the same register (avoiding awkward leaps), they have to move "do" so it lands on this bell set's fourth scale degree, with the result that "fa" ends up being raised (or becoming "fi"). Music Theory FTW!

  • Can you add this to the series I playlist, please?

  • i feel like im missing 2 eppisodes

  • @jimkev68 an episode wasnt broadcast which was the one with clarkson in due to the protest comments

  • That was one of the funniest episodes ever! =D

  • Brian Blessed is phenomenal :')

  • Was this the end of the season?

  • Mythbusters did that phone book thing a couple years ago.

  • Brian Blessed is just amazing. 75 years old and having that amount of energy is just astounding.

    He's awesome.

  • @Maxolanalana well he is a big guy and energy equals mass and all that.

  • @LauxRO a "thank you" would be nice

  • @khasab i didn't read that last comment, sorry.

  • @LauxRO This might be even better to practice with youtube.com/user/davidmitchellsoapbox?blend=2&ob=video-mustangbase

  • @hjenkinz yes you did. Because i have no children. EPIC FAIL

  • This is a really funny episode. Thank you for uploading.

  • HAHAHAHAHA ALAN DAVES BUZZER IS ALWYS DIFFERENT LOL

  • Comment removed

  • @LauxRO i see well that explains it of course. I thought you were British- By the way I don't know why you gave me all that stuff about Brasil, I've never said a single word criticising Brasilians. I meet quite a few as I'm English but I live in Portugal where I've been living for more than 25 years, I don't know what "ancient European English" is I'm afraid it doesn't exist. I teach English. The accents aren't any worse than an others, indeed they can't be, you just need more practice.>>>

  • @LauxRO That is Stephen Fry, You couldn't get a more standard English accent! Where are you from?

  • Funniest episode ever

  • can the fat man stop yelling?

  • @unacorda00

have some respect thats brian blessed there.

  • "What are you doing?"

"I´m just burning some penguins so I can boil off this whale.."

It´s just something about the way he says that....kills me every time! LOL

  • I think he is actually insane.....

  • naturally Stephen Fry plays with lubed rods

  • Comment removed

  • I need me some necropants.

  • Burning penguins to kill whales. It's like an episode of South Park.

  • Brian Blessed is so awesome. Large Ham, knows a whole lot of stuff that many people who aren't specialists know about.

  • firefliforeva, I think that means something like "This is against my restraining order"

  • is any1 else here because nickfromfulham went!!

  • @80sgirlwhamduran he's back. look for nickfromfulhamagain

  • what does sean say at 16:55 ? what does it mean?

  • @firefliforeva He said "Sorry Stephen, but this contravenes my super injunction". I don't know what that means though, sorry.

  • 5:30 Iceland may have the world's oldest parliament, but aren't they going to mention the Tynwald of the Isle of Man, which claims to be the oldest continuous parliament? :) Just learned that on Mark Steel's In Town, when he's in Douglas.

  • @quite1nteresting Man's and Island's parliaments are quite close. Barely two decades difference, as far as I can remember.

  • @quite1nteresting Hey! Don't you dare burst our bubble! This is about our only claim to fame. And we will hang onto it like velcro.

  • that thing is called a pianola? i have wondered what it's called since i saw one about 7 years ago XD

  • @ADragonAmongRoses ...to laugh once they think you're a "funny person." Therefore, if a woman is on the show, especially one the audience isn't familiar with (unlike, say, Jo Brand), the "women aren't as funny" stigma combined with the "I haven't decided whether that new person is funny or not" phenomenon means she gets fewer laughs. The producers want a show where the audiences in studio and at home are laughing, so fewer women are invited.

  • @Maramirax I don't quite get where you're going with this. The audience would be affected by a new panelist regardless of gender. I'm just saying that QI explained that studies have been done to prove this. and just because a study notes that one gender tends, on average, to be better than another on a certain task doesn't make it sexist, it's just an observational fact. I learned about different strengths among genders in my developmental psyc class; it's not subjective but it does exist.

  • @ADragonAmongRoses Yes, there are differences between genders. I'm not questioning that. I was questioning your recollection of what that QI episode actually stated. I didn't remember them saying "women don't tell jokes as well" (which, frankly, could never be "studied" and "proven" as it is a subjective opinion). I remembered them saying "Studies have shown people in general have a preconceived notion that women are not as funny as men." My memory may be wrong, but that's all I was saying.

  • @Maramirax and @ADragonAmongRoses

I believe the study showed that women laughed less at female comedians than male comedians. If I recall the study showed no difference as to how men respond to female vs male comedians (but I might be wrong). While I suppose you could argue that this indicates that men are better comedians, another possible conclusion is that women are genetically programmed to laugh more at men than other women.

  • @binkey I can definitely see the biological logic of that. Many times laughing at a man's (sometimes stupid or lame) jokes is a way for a woman to show she likes him (I know I've been guilty of it myself). There isn't that added layer of interaction when women are watching a female comedian.

  • But you ARE quick!

  • Isn't it Alan who says 'Nobody knows' when they pull out the cards

  • @EugeneMoscow thought so as well.

  • Ross Noble has become better looking. How so?

  • Alan won!!! Good times.

  • Comment removed

  • Brian Blessed sure is quite interesting.

  • Brian Blessed rules.

  • "No sexism on QI"? My ass. There are notoriously few female comedians invited on, and they tend to get talked over by the men even so. Thank goodness for Toksvig.

  • @ltylcz Well, if you recall, one of the earlier series explained that the major reason that there are so few female comedians in the world is because women general aren't as good at telling jokes as men are, though they generally have a better sense of humor. so it's not that they're purposely excluding female comedians, it's just that there aren't many around. I'm practically addicted to watching comedy and i've noticed that there aren't many female comedians, and only a few are worth watching

  • @ADragonAmongRoses "women general aren't as good at telling jokes as men are" In the interests of avoiding sexism on QI/QI board ;-), I thought I'd tweak this. Actually, it wasn't that they "aren't as good", it's that there is a general conception for most people that men are funnier than women. One of the hurdles in comedy is getting people to think you're funny - once they do, they'll laugh more readily, even if your jokes at that moment really aren't the best. They're pre-disposed...

  • @ADragonAmongRoses Laughing more =/= "Better" sense of humour. Cause the episode said women tend to laugh more, not that they have a better sense of humour.

  • @ltylcz - A study show that people laugh less at female's when they joke. As this is a comedy show, it's inevitable.Search: "Why aren't there more women on QI?". As you can see they even mentioned it.

  • @ltylcz Its not sexism, there just isnt as many good female comedians as male, quite simple.

  • @druaboy Wrong way to look at it, me thinks. The overall number of male and female comedians differ. But i recon the ratio of good-to-bad is the same for both sexes.

  • @druaboy But the reason there are more male comedians are because they are more accepted but society because women are not supposed to be funny. QI would be a good way to introduce more female comedians...

  • I just absolutely adore Ross Noble!

  • Internet argument --- Nazis --- Hitler

  • Looks like Sean is having a wank just after 01:24.

  • Is Brian Blessed the one that calls Stephen Spunk Bubble?

  • I'm always surprised that Brian Blessed doesn't always ask "Have you got any jam sandwiches!?"

  • Happy New Year to all QI fans! Have a quite interesting and good year!

  • speaking from the bottom of my environmentalist heart, thank Genghis Khan and Surtsey

  • @khasab i know! isnt it amazing what man can be when he set his mind to it!

  • @okden13 you're joking right? by the way what country is TT?

  • iGlo...LOL

  • I looooooove Iceland. It's my dream to go there one day.

  • Brian has become a parody of himself, but he has lived an impressive life

  • Oh my...Sean Lock is Edward Nigma!

  • Ross tells a good joke then keeps going for a minute more after and makes me forget about said joke. Needs to listen.

  • What a way to start the new year. Mentally scarred from the skin pants incantation.

  • Alan won? It's a Christmas miracle!

  • Brian could play Pavarotti in a bio pic quite well

  • 13:11 - > Steal a coin from a widow? Poor widow!

  • I love how alan finally has a person with a matching hairdo XD

  • I dislike Brian Blessed, too loud :L

  • I can't help but feel sorry for the sound man when they filmed this episode...!

  • ok, chocolate is bad for animals and i hope brian didnt really feed mars bars to a wolf.

  • One could listen to Brian Blessed for hours. Though you might lose your hearing by the end of the first hour. But what an interesting hour that would be!

  • YOU GREAT BIG CHEATER

  • "I'm a slave to a Foxes Bollock, me" Ross Noble has been brilliant in this series.

  • Fantastic way to end the year.

  • This was awesome.

  • Brian Blessed is obviously there to compensate of Alans silence.

  • SCRAAAAAAAAAAAMBLED!!!!!!!!!

  • Happy New Year to all.

  • Brian Blessed's n his 70's? Holy mother of god.

  • Whole show... laughing so hard... can't breathe... dying of enjoyment.

  • its new years eve.. and im watching QI

  • Ross Noble, Sean Lock and BRIAN BLESSED?! Is this the real life, is this just fantasyyy...

  • What a fun episode! :D

  • Blessed is quite deliriously, magnificently, bonkers.

  • Brian is a bit mad, isn't he?

  • @ultrapirtle "Absolute batshit bonkers", i think is the phrase.

  • Mad? He's furious!

  • These uploads continue to be the highlight of my viewing week, and i owe it all to these uploads for even knowing this show exists. So thanks! Happy new year!

  • here's to a great year for all qi fans, and our dear uploader.

  • Perfect new years gift thanks for the uploads, keep them up throughout 2012 :)

  • I died when sean fell off his chair :D

  • I'm just amazed that there was such a thing as button polish.

  • As a half Icelander I found that whole bit very amusing. Alan was closest to the Eyjafjallajökull pronunciation :) Stephen was completely off though

  • @icecoldlily It's [ay-yah-fjat-la-yu-kutl], isn't it? Hard to transcribe the pronunciation though.

  • @Gigano1986 yes :)

  • ....FOX TESTICLE ICE CREAM....

By the gods, that one had me flat on my back laughing!

  • 19:53. When I saw this in the regular episode I knew there was going to be a story by BRIAN BLESSED. Shame they cut his content out.

  • Before this, I had no idea who Brian Blessed was. Now I'm convinced he is the most interesting man alive.

  • @rebirthoftheflesh If you want to have some fun, watch Brian chewing the scenery as Julius Caesar in I Claudius (It's on YouTube somewhere). It was on Masterpiece Theater in the US in the 1970's and the first show I ever saw him in. You'll also get see a very young Patrick Stewart in a wig playing the villain Sejanus (he shows up about halfway through). If you don't want to sit through the whole series there's a "Making of" documentary that shows some of Brian's best scenes.

  • @RMoribayashi Awesome! Thanks for the info!

  • Yognauts, stop embarrassing yourselves! Yogscast repeatedly references Brian because he is a living legend, not because he is some internet running joke of niche interest. Also possibly because Brian Blessed impersonations feature a lot on the Adam & Joe show, of which Simon & Lewis are fans. He is BRIAN! Blessed and he has the balls.

  • Hm, what happens if a penguin takes a dump on a mine then? Previously in the series, Fry stated that the force at which a penguin takes a shit is quite powerful, and I'd guess it'd probably be enough force to detonate one of these mines...

    But maybe not...

  • 14?

  • Brian yells Audience applauds Brian yells Audience applauds Brian yells Audience applauds Brian yells Audience applauds I roll my eyes and wonder what is wrong with everybody. Am I really the only person who can't stand the man? If he was just a random unknown sat there screaming, he'd be subjected to the frowns and sighs he deserves.
  • @QuasiMolko Yes, you are the only one.

  • This episode must be watched with the snowflake button on :)

  • As an American,it seems odd how this show is so male heavy.

  • @yokie52 Don't ruin it...please.

  • @yokie52 Yeah, but then it wouldn't be funny anymore......

  • @AnkouStorme Wow, misogynist much?

  • @yokie52 It's not my fault female comics in most cases aren't funny.

  • @yokie52 None of which fit in with british humour. If you watch an episode of 8 out of 10 cats with Sarah Silverman, she's shit. So please, don't say such things. Get the best people on: if they happen to be all men (or all women, which isn't the case, but I'll put it as an option nonetheless) then so be it. Don't just go adding women because a bunch of people have their asses clenched about some imaginary glass ceiling.

  • @anonymousLeroy Wow, if you could only hear yourself...pathetic.

  • Comment removed

  • @anonymousLeroy I'm not the self-righteous one. I just commented on the male heaviness of the show. I've said nothing negative about men. I find men and women funny. Open your mind, people. Geezus.
