Daytonas and Countaches are some of the best sounding V-12's ever.

Countaches are the hottest Lamborghinis period, hands down.

Yep. Crockett's black car was a restyled 1980 Corvette. They used a kit car so they could mount cameras and not drill through a real Ferrari. Plus it was cheaper. In season 3 Ferrari threated to sue, so they blew up the black car and got 2 real Ferrari Testarossas. A 3rd car was made for camera angles from a Pantera. The Miami Vice replica Ferraris pop up on E-bay from time to time. I'd rather have a real one personally.

Actually the Ferrari Daytona was roadtested in 1970 and it did 0-60 in 5,4seconds and a clocked 174mph with the airconditioning still switched on.

The same magazine roadtested a Countach 5000S in 1982, which did 0-60mph in 5,6seconds and 170mph.

Daytona was one of Ferrari's all time greats and Roger Penske and Brock Yates used one for a record time in the original Cannonball run, not the movie, but the event that inspired it.

how lame, I never noticed this as a kid ... they used the later model Countach with the ugly bumpers (for the US market, per Federal regulations) in portions of this scene

the final "anniversary" edition before the Diablo took over was the ugliest Countach of all, with myriad little strakes in the air intakes

the most beautiful Countach was the original prototype, before it was modified with larger radiator ducts (and the NACA ducts in the doors)

i really didnt care for this episode either (but this was a great scene from it). there were some other very good episodes from season 2 you didnt mention, starting with the prodigal son (maybe the best episode of vice). trust fund pirates was good, bushido, was different but good and little miss dangerous was awesome. the fix and this episode stunk, granted.

@TheGatorfan93 Phil The Shill had some incredibly funny moments in it. It was also the most viewed Vice ep since the pilot at the time it first aired. I don't think Free Verse was as bad or bizarre as Tale of The Goat (guest starring Clarence Williams III & that black midget from Tales From The Crypt.) That's most arguably the worst ep of the entire season. What about Florence Italy (guest starring Indy Car & NASCAR legend Danny Sullivan and Charles Rocket)?

@bucky468 Free verse is just boring,Tale of the goat is bad,and florence italy is just as bad.Especially the scene when the store security camera magically zooms in on the dad in the car! lolAnd sullivan's acting is almost as bad as bill russell in the fix.The second season probably had the most quality episodes of the show's entire run,but it had some really bad episodes as well.In total,i think miami vice had about 75 to 80 mediocre or bad episodes,but there's 30 to 35 that are really good.

Unarmed bad guys. No shootouts. All high speed chases w/very bad instrumental disco music courtesy of Alan Silvestri. Terrible acting (even by the most accomplished actors who made guest appearances.) Bad sounding sirens. Everything about that show was totally unhip.

@TheGatorfan93 Well I was comparing both Vice & CHiP's b/c Vice had much more REAL action in its 5 yr run than CHiP's ever did in its 7 yrs in existence. I liked "Knock Knock Who's There", "Duty & Honor", "Teresa" & "By Hooker By Crook" from season 3 (all followed "Lend Me An Ear.") "Everybody's In Show Biz" had its good moments (like toward the end when Crockett says to Gallego "don't even twitch sucker or I'll shoot your ears off" lol.) "Viking Bikers From Hell" was eerie. "Cuba Libre" was ok.

Best ones from season 5 are "Line of Fire", "Hard Knocks", "Miami Squeeze" (guest starring Rita Moreno & NCIS's David McCallum), "Over The Line", "The Lost Madonna", and "Freefall" (aka the series finale.) Karen Black was exceptionally good in "Victims of Circumstance" but that ep blew.

Chases and shootouts can still be seen on 'CSI's and 'NCIS's, but they are pretty rare. I think our best bet for action these days is usually USA shows like 'Burn Notice', 'In Plain Sight', and my favorite, 'Covert Affairs'.

yeah, but in reality a Daytona could outrun both a Testarossa and a Countach

unlike the other two the Daytona proved everything when roadtested and clocked a real 174mph and 0-60mph in 5,4 seconds.

Testarossas usually struggled to dip below 6 seconds flat to 60mph and not a single roadtest saw speeds higher than 168mph

Daytonas are collectables. Yes, I know the one in Miami Vice was a replica.

I think the changing Lambos are caused by an accident with the Daytona. There ist one inside view of the Ferrari in which you can see that the wing mirror is more ore less hanging.
