  • this is good... but the original 1973 film was much much better

  • This one gives you the creeps

  • 0:18 = My balls dropped

  • @shenkeey First time I saw this I was like "Woah, hi low voice!"

  • GUYS!!! I FOUND JOHN COFFEY!!!!!

  • I'm kind of sad that this song isn't in the 2000 CD with Glenn Carter/Jerome Pradon! So sad. I like this song very much as well. Screw it. i like all the songs from JCS 2000 <3

  • i am follower of caiphas. this jesus must die, not literally figuratively evangelical christianity must be eradicated. have nothing about jesus himself and even against christians who are not biblethumpers. just hate biblethumpers to the point of re-educating them

  • annas looks so much like voldemort, you need him to say:

'avada kedavra!, now die harry potter!' and how awsome is ciaphas! ive actuely got this on dvd, an it is great!

  • Lol. The one dude looks like Jim Carey.

  • Can anybody else not find this on iTunes?

  • I love this version! And this particular performance is great.

  • This is by far the best version of this song I have ever heard/seen. The voices of all 5 singers are outstanding and the facial expressions are priceless! The new lyrics "Infantile sermons, the mulitude drools" is a big improvement over "one thing I'll say for him, Jesus is cool"

Annas is scary looking and Caiphas certainly is very imposing! Great ensemble & great singing by all! BRAVO!

  • I just wish this was on the soundtrack! why did they leave it out!!!????

  • @msdaae123 I want it in there too >:

  • @msdaae123 They also left out "Damned for all Time"

  • The bald guy reminds me of Zarathrian from Dragon Age Origins

  • Okay, so I MOSTLY like the 1973 version better, but props to the 2000 version for this scene. Badass.

    Especially that Caiaphas, dayum.

  • @xraindropgirlx Ya , the dude even affects a convincing Jewish accent !

  • these guys look like the same kind of evil business men you'd see in other movies or on tv

  • why is not obama singing this would be so epic

  • what version is this?? I wouldnt mind watching it on dvd (:

  • Ganondorf: YOU MUST DIE!!!

    LINK; facepalm >(

  • I'm afraid annas

  • Voldemort's really found his perfect career path

  • They're not as smooth as the originals.

  • wow i didn't know they had flyers and tvs back then

  • @Anamar221 You do realise it's modernized right?

  • @hellofascination0x duh of course..... i ws just commenting about that because it was kind of funny they would add the TVs and flyers in a movie about something taking place in early AD.... lighten up and you'll see the humor

  • Add 1973 Ted Neely to this movie and it would be epic

  • Annas is awesome

  • 1:37 crumple picture and throws it 2:08 same guy crumples picture and throws it im not the only one to notice that am i

  • @dlauer90 If you look, theres lots of the same flyer on the table, which came cascading down in the start of the scene. But good spot! :)

  • I would have loved to see 'Then We Are Decided' in this version ... with those two singers it would have been amazing.

  • 70's Caiaphas it's longer better!!!!

  • HI! no i musn't!

    /watch?v=u_yKAxeb_go&feature=related

  • I understand that Caiaphas singing slowly is for dramatic effect, but it really sounds like he has brain damage. I mean, really.

  • a voice like a cold shower^^

  • 1:14 A RRRRRabble RRRRRousing mission that I think we must abort!!!

  • This version of the song is better than the original i think...

  • theire voices are worse then in original version of 1973

  • @31Xela13 Well, less people than in the original. Aside, this cast was suppossed to act from 7 to 9 acts a week and you look for different things in that case than when you're looking for people for a movie.

  • I don't think people actually understand that the Romans killed Jesus and not the Jews.

  • @Jmoretti8 the Jews forced the Romans though to do it

  • What happened to "Then We Are Decided." Still don't understand why they've changed the lyrics.

  • @vidfan69 Then We Are Decided was only in the 70's movie, and was added to make the Jewish council less evil - the film-makers got permission to film in the Holy Land itself on the condition that they portrayed the Jewish leaders in a sympathetic light. It wasn't written by Lloyd-Webber and Rice, so copyright issues usually prevent it being included in other works...

  • I was Annas in my school play haha

  • Okay, so, the Pharisees are headed by Morpheus from the Matrix and his second in command is Lord Voldemort. Wonderful.

  • @ludicrus32 No, they are headed by Ben Cisko from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine :)

  • @elbertosanchezlollol Yea, because there are SO many black neo-nazis out there. Lol

  • caiaphas is actually my basketball coach!!! LOL, like no joke

  • am i the only one who lol'd at 1:56?

  • @MrYuuura no, no you're definitely not. lol

  • Kaifa's sounds like he's burping instead of singing O_o

  • Those look more like Neo-Nazi's than Jews.

  • @ElbertoSanchezlollol Oh my gosh I'm not alone when I thought that... XD

  • Why did they change the line "One thing I'll say for him, Jesus is cool."?

  • @Sperium3000 Cuz that was a very 70's line.

  • One of them looks like our minister of economy

  • why do our politicians not sing? :D greetz from germany

  • @nessajax over here in Aus, the lead singer from Midnight Oil is minister for the environment.

  • @nessajax You didn't see 'Springtime'?:)

  • @nessajax

do you really want merkel to sing? I´m not sure if I really want that... ;)

  • @nessajax 'Cause their too cool to sing

  • @nessajax you want to hear that?

  • @nessajax They do, but only at the super-secret Bilderberg meetings.

  • @nessajax for some reason I don't think that any of the United nations Ambassadors, or Pelosi or Hillary or Obama singing, are at all attractive..

  • @nessajax Who said they don't? :D

  • @nessajax I'd vote for any man who can give me a song and dance number.

  • i cant see why people whould hate this

  • Annas must've been Voldemorts predecessor

  • Caiaphas has a FANTASTIC range.

  • The best line is missing! The line about Jesus being cool!

  • @GotTheStinkyBritches They altered a few lines to make them a little more "current", and eliminate that sort of "1970's hippie" feeling. I'm a fan, but I can see how it would bother others.

  • Who else likes Caiaphas' necklace?

  • What does the priest say at 2:08? This is something different from what was in the 1973 version...

  • @golkiper1989 infentile sermons, the multitude drools

  • @golkiper1989 Yep, that's the line that was changed from "One thing I'll say for him, Jesus is cool" which was Caiaphas' line, in the script.

  • @RyuBaek The lines here are more realistic because The Pharisees wouldn`t describe a man they saw as a threat to Israel as " cool " .

  • anas is the creepiest here :/ hes just great in 1973

  • Who else noticed the same melody from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at 1:33?

  • @smoothebs yep, lol

  • The Priests must have just gotten back from a shopping spree at the General Zod Clothing Store/Chapel. (KNEEEEEEEEEEEL!)

  • To everyone complaining about the really quite minor changes to the script, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice were both consulted with this... And they both agreed...

    Just saying.

  • What's up with the rewrite at 2:08? Do not like the revisionist text.

  • Wow!!! Please tell me that Frederick and these guys have won some Tony's had many gigs on Broadway or the West End, and are recognized! I can't believe those octaves that Frederick achieved.

  • Never been a fan of this musical, but the bass of Caiaphas and his servant Voldemort always make me shudder in a positive way.

  • Professor X is a bad guy!!!

  • Annas creep me...

  • WOW!!!!!!! Caiaphas has an awsome range!!!!

  • the first guy singing without hair and the guy at 1:34 is awesome :D

  • o.O, they're good, not as good as the original :/

  • Kurt Yaghijan > Michael Shaeffer.. by far. 1973 version was better >>

  • @werewolf50505050 rofl, no it isn't. listen to annus from the 1973 version. i defy anyone not to laugh at him xD

  • This an extremely fun show to do for school or whatever

  • my name is caiaphis. i'm on a horse

  • Wow. This movie is actually a joke.

  • Insert comment begging for thumbs up here.

  • "One thing I'll say for him, Jesus is good" :p

  • @deedeeke1991 "One thing I'll say for him, Jesus is cool."

  • mast dai)))

  • omg its lord voldemort!

  • my school got to perform this. i was a priest/ guard. it was awsome

  • It IS interesting, but I'm accostumed to the original version and it's not easy to change my mind ^^ Anyway, I thought it would have ben worse, but this version is very good.

  • The only problem I have is that when they are saying that Jesus is dangerous it looked like they were trying to convince Caiaphas instead of agreeing with him about it. Other then that this version is incredible and Caiaphas seems to be more powerful then in the original. And his voice is awesome and sounds scarier.

  • @Tublacan Well , the 1973 Film had the same problem .

  • Their voices are soo powerful! really impressive... I really prefer this version!

  • I prefer the original, though this isn't bad.

  • All five of these guys are have their own element of intimidation behind them. they fit their parts perfectly

  • i got one word to: dislike *click*

  • @TheForkIsClean

i got one word to: like *click*

  • One word: Annas

  • 24 people are not pharises or priets lol

  • Billy Corgan.

  • This is horrible! A travesty. I watch 5 mins of the intro and this my favorite part in the original. I could write an essay on how terrible this is!

  • @goldragons i agree

  • John Malkovich is pretty versatile.

  • Nice, although personally I find Annas's voice too whiny and their whole acting seems a bit forced; nothing will beat the original.

  • what year was this movie released??

  • what is thissss??????? its like jcs except it had the 70s taken out of it.. which makes me sad..

  • I found myself annoyed with the bizarre idea that these guys spent half the video trying to "convince" Caiaphas about something he already agreed with them about. I guess what I'm also saying is that they wouldn't talk to him like this at ALL....whereas in the original it's clear who is boss, yet everyone throws their points in equally as they figure out what to do. I like the setting, but not the interpretation of it. Caiaphas isn't "conflicted". He's black and white logical. Jesus must die.

  • best after 1:54

  • This is actually closer to the stage production I saw in London a few decades ago. Very good, and not a little creppy, ( like the Pharicees of old ).

  • this version in like a parody of the original

  • To make this perfect, I would just change Caiaphas for the old one. And before you take me wrong im not being racist cos i prefer the old Judas (Carl Anderson) ten times more than this one. I really think the other Judas' voice is much better.

  • Oh, Jesus, I just can't get enough of your love, baby.

  • the judas in this version has no singing skills...

  • Okay I just realized something pretty funny. Jesus is "Bigger than John when John did his baptism thing." then The Beatles, including John Lennon, are "Bigger than Jesus"

  • It's....not terrible. I just wish the performers weren't munching on the scenery like it's a game of Hungry Hungry Hippos. "Supporting Player" means "SUPPORTING PLAYER".

And what the hell kind of kidney stone is Caiaphas trying to pass as 2:27 ? X D I get that it's stylistic thingamajig, but c'mon now. And finally...conspiracy scenes....should maybe be a bit ....quieter?

  • Funny that a song about murdering the son of God would be my favorite in the movie.

  • Michael Shaeffer has the most athletic voice, SO GOOD for Annas!

  • What is this from?

  • I love all the bass notes these guys can reach its quite amazing

  • Was there really technology then? Really?

  • @TheAngelicaRox It's called stylistic anachronism.

  • I like the 1973 version better. It was more minimalist, less overblown. And they had a better Caiaphas. ;)

  • I miss the good old keyboards on this version :(... Great performances anyway.

  • Definitely the best song in the movie.

  • Umm@ nymphclover...they are church leaders in this story...lol. always have been....updated look, same roles.

  • Great Song and Performance ***** Brilliant!!

  • they are freakin good .. I think the best version from all that I watched till now (besides original LP)

  • They got rid of the line "Jesus is cool". That's just no fun. :D

  • the acting is a lot better in this version, as is the recording and the artistic interpretation of the interior. but, of course, opinions, and esaccialy the ones that are influenced by nostalgia, differ.

  • I kinda like this one more because in the original it seemed like Annas was making the desicions and Ciph was doing what he was told to do by Annas.

  • Voldemort's got quite a good voice hasn't he?

  • @MissMiffed HAHAHAHA. I enjoyed that quite a lot.

  • Ciaphus' range is so large, I also fell out of my chair when he started 'I see bad things arising'! SO GOOD!

  • Who is playin Annas ? Such a great performance !!!

  • mmm, don't you think they mean something by putting caiphas annas and the rest in priest and church leaders clothes? a kind of allegory towards nowadays church being the oppresors mmm?

  • annas really really scares me so much

  • Ce secatura !!!!

  • Yeshua ha'mashia is alive !!! Hallelelu'yah !!!

  • Hallelu'yahhh ! Jesus is alive ! Satan is destroyed !!!

  • Is it cool that I am 14 and I am currently in a show performing Caiaphas? (singing all the correct notes of course) :D

  • @Tasteslikecake yup that IS cool :) I'd love to do that but my voice can't go that low (and still sound good) :P Good luck with the show!

  • From 1:55 its the best,i lve the melody, but the content is not so lovely;)

  • Barry White comes to mind...:)

  • One thing I love about Andrew Lloyd Webbers music is that it isn't consistant. Every few beats the whole melody and structure has changed but the transition between them just fits beautifully.

  • I prefer the 70's one, but this particular scene is really cool in the new version :)

  • The bald guy kinda scares me. Along with the black guy's dark voice..... :-)

  • thumbs up if you lold at 2:28 =D

  • WE NEED A MORE PERMANENT SOOOLUTIOON TOO OOOUR PROOBLEEEEEM XD

  • @joakkko95 What a Bass :D

  • Wow!

  • I'm so jealous of Michael Shaeffer's voice...

  • Its hard to compare them, The 1st version was pretty cool and Caiaphas looked funny with the hat, this one looks like the matrix. and the Romans in this look like nazi's in away. but this song is funny X3

  • this is better than the original version???????

  • I wonder if anyone here realizes this version is only the second film?

  • @Zookimer Yes

  • I've seen 3 versions of JC Suprstat LIVE, one of which had the stars of the movie version -- Ted Neeley as Jesus and Carl Anderson as Judas. Later, I saw one with heavy metal vocalist Sebastian Bach of the band Skid Row as Jesus, opposite Carl Anderson again reprising his role as Judas.

  • I pretty like Michael Shaeffer as Annas. His voice, his look and everything fits perfectly on hits role as Annas.
