I've always loved Indigo girls singing this. the original is calm, emotionless and plain. this one makes it a song about love and loss, and she blows the roof off with it. This has all the heart and soul that the original lacks.

Mark Knopfler wrote and preformed the song, but until Amy did it, it meant nothing, now its one of my favorite songs of all time. In my top ten, its the first song to make me cry, but only by her, to this day ten years after, she brings tears to my eyes. I love this song and her for opening that in me. Love Erik.

This is a good cover. Her voice is fantastic...always has been. Making Movies from which this song was pulled is a fantastic album. I like both versions. She does kick ass at 1:35 when she sings "how can you look at me as if I was just another one of your deals"

This is one of my favorite songwriters singing the work of my other favorite songwriters. Amy Ray singing Mark Knopfler - eeeeeee!!! :) I like songwriters singing their own songs, but the thing about covers is that its an expression of respect - in this context it works just fine! Amy Ray and Mark Knopfler both completely rock my world.

i like both versions, Dire and Indigo... the killers one lacks feeling is like a reading of the Dire one... so going back to the 2 versions... the Dire one is so sad in a infatuated yet resigned kind of way... so lovely... and the indigo is so desperate and angry like a "how could you kill this, b...ch" kind of way... the words are the same but the feeling's are so different.

Ha, Romeo and Juliet is a big song because Amy Ray made it huge! This song was on Rite of Passage. Mark Knophlers version sucked balls, and no one paid it any attention, accept Amy! This is the version that my friend Cole's Whalen, "I" Sean Smith, Edwin McCain, and many other artist cover! The Indigo Girls inspired a generation. Rock on Amy you are AMAZING!!!

SORRY DUDE, maybe my comment was a little unfair to Mark Knophler and Dire Straights. I like the band, but I "HATE" there version of this song! I know they wrote it, but as a songwriter myself I know that sometime it takes someone else to make your work great. Look at what Hendrix did for "All Along The Watch Tower". Afterwards, Dylan copied Hendrix's version because it was better!

Then I saw you at the Boston Pavillion on a beautiful summer night, full moon in the back ground!! Thank's for being an important part of the soundtrack of my life.. My daughter is now hooked!!
