TogetherForPeace, here's perhaps why atheists do not "offer anything". Religion is a complex social structure. It has evolved in communities of increasing intricacy within the past 10k years or so. It evolved as a phenomenon to explain the things that otherwise couldn't be rationalized. Now, as a social structure, it is unnecessary. While christianity may make the best pair of shoes, the rest of us are flying around with jetpacks. It's intellectual, social baggage obsolete in 2011.

Why would they have to? The only thing atheism deals with is whether or not there is a god. Anything else requires something else. Christians have eliminated all but one religion. Atheists have simply taken it one step further and eliminated christianity too.

Eve did not come from a rib of a man. Biology shows that men have the same amount of ribs as a woman. The first record of man's existence was 2.3 to 2.4 million years ago in Africa, not 10,000 years ago as stated in the bible. Both of which are FACT. Christianity doesn't offer answers, just more questions, which is why I never gripped religion, because I always had questions that could never be answered, so I started searching for myself and that's when I found the truth.
In order for you to ask that question, you need to understand what atheism is about. That sounds like a question you would ask a pastor or church president before deciding what religion to join. (What will I get if I join you). It's not a business transaction you know and that you score brownie points if you choose the right one. Atheism's basic principals is finding the truth yourself, rather than someone telling you what the truth is.
Part of the problem as I see it is that most religion is not about exploring the question of the existence of a greater force in the universe. Most religion is simply mind control designed in a manner that allows a few to easily control the masses. Atheistic nations can do the same by using a social ideology. I for one don't need some far right dipshit telling me all about his sky daddy and why I'm hell bound nor someone telling me there's nothing out there when even science indicates there is.
To me the best postion is to have an open mind. Neither atheists or religious folks are open minded in my opinion. An Atheist might and often do say, "I offer the truth." But there is no meat on those bones. A Christian will simply reply, "No, I offer the truth." It then becomes a stand-off with each side offering their evidence and definitions of "truth". No gain. So it comes down to who's faith is to be accepted, because they will both have to rely on faith in the end.
A Christian attempting to convert an Atheist to Christianity is not the equivalent to an Atheist attempting to convert a Christian to Atheism. This is because while the Christian has everything to offer, the Atheist has nothing to offer . Atheists offer science which encompasses almost every major achievement since the dawn of modern humans. It includes germ theory and medicine which is no doubt keeping you alive and healthy. An atheist offers nothing more than a christian can offer to humanity, both are human beings with as much right and opinions as any other. Where the atheist differs is that he/she doesn't see and hear things that are not there, and they do not praise or blame anything for the occurrence of natural disasters or coincidence. The christian will apply pattern recognition to the things he believes he knows, and for the things he/she doesn't know, then its "god works in mysterious ways".
Physicalists (inaccurately calling themselves atheists) are guilty of exactly the same thing as what they are accusing theists of- absolute conviction. The Christian say they're right, the physicalists say that they're actually the ones who are right. We are going in circles, and making absolutely no progress whatsoever spiritually. We will continue to run in circles until humanity can learn to swallow pride and have an objective perspective.

What my world view has to offer is so in-depth, so eloquent and beautiful that it would take me literally months to fully explain.
IE: Let's take birdwatchers for example. There are some who know the names of all the birds and what they look like. Thousands of them.
Then there are the ones who know not the name, but understand what goes on at the molecular level, the evolution of the bird, its biology, how the wings developed, what the breeding cycle is, etc,

There is no way a creationist can provide any evidence to support the existence of a deity, much less a christian god. No evidence exists that points to the presence, now or ever, of a god. Instead, the universe operates independently of humanity and does not require the validation of a mythical being for it to work. Consequently, the universe will continue to operate as it has for the last 14 billion years, yet god will die with the last person believing in him. In other words, there is no god.

Mythology. That's one reason I know "God" doesn't exist. Take a class on it. Ancient civilizations each had a unique ruler, usually pivotal to the sun. Sacrifices were made in hope, faith, that their ruler would grace them (whether it be crops, rain, victory etc.). The flawed idea of god has existed since ancient dumb fuck humans who didn't understand the world invented it to have hope for their life on earth and the idea that they can have a life off of it.

I know this is a bad analogy, but suppose you are living in a third world country and are starving. Someone said to you that in a week a feast occurring and you were invited. The time passed and there was no feast. A few days later the same person approached and said he got the day wrong up and it's happening next week, once again the day came and went and there was no food. How long would you be willing to keep trusting that person because the belief that an upcoming feast gave you hope?

I'm an atheist. I find it offensive you suggest we don't offer anything. Where should we be offering something to? Christians fear death and their beliefs focus on ensuring they live on after death. Atheists focus on the here and now. Plenty of us make a real difference to people's lives through Science and free-thinking.
I guess if it makes you happy to know that your religion, and many others, are used to hurt people, judge people, persecute people that have different religions, beliefs, values, sexualities, and lifestyles, as well as start wars, control people through puritanical laws, and mislead people into believing that their lives are insignificant on earth because it’s about what happens after life on earth, then cool. What theism basically satisfies in us is the fear of our uncertainty of what comes after death, and it satisfies it through what is being perceived by atheists frankly as fables and myths. So, they can't tell you that they think you believe in something that simply is not, and then pat you on the back and tell you not to worry. Atheists automatically feel conviction in their hearts as soon as they here the name of Jesus. They shut the door to their hearts. They believe what ever they want to hear just to be comforted. We as Christians who have accepted Jesus in our hearts as Lord and Savior need to pray for others around you who are non believers.
Personal happiness does not equate to truth. Take this example, 2 villages are located near each other. 1 norse and 1 christian. In my opinion, not being offered anything is the default state, and being offered something is the non-default.
Under this assumption, atheism is the default and theism is the non-default.
Based on this, the real question should always be "what does theism have to offer?"
In my opinion, it is nothing there is nothing that is both exclusive to theism and is good enough for me to change my view.
Or: Theism offers nothing of value, So I would rather not be offered anything at all.

You evidently have a void in your life that the belief in a god fills for you. For most people it's the fear of death...what is it for you? Mythology. That's one reason I know "God" doesn't exist. Take a class on it. Ancient civilizations each had a unique ruler, usually pivotal to the sun. Sacrifices were made in hope, faith, that their ruler would grace them (whether it be crops, rain, victory etc.). The flawed idea of god has existed since ancient dumb fuck humans who didn't understand the world invented it to have hope for their life on earth and the idea that they can have a life off of it.

I know this is a bad analogy, but suppose you are living in a third world country and are starving. Someone said to you that in a week a feast occurring and you were invited. The time passed and there was no feast. A few days later the same person approached and said he got the day wrong up and it's happening next week, once again the day came and went and there was no food. How long would you be willing to keep trusting that person because the belief that an upcoming feast gave you hope?

Why does it have to be so black and white? personally i dont subscribe to any particular religious belief, but i am a spiritual person, i treat other people well and try to live my life to the fullest, yet i am going to burn in hell because i dont believe in your particular view of the world? Why should Atheists offer anything? Well, we do offer something. Truth for one. Advances in Science and Technology for two and just as much comfort and hope as ANY religion. Technology and Science is what saves patients in hospitals daily. Not magical powers. Being in a room of Atheists being able to agree is just as comforting as a room of Christians being able to agree. Atheists bring a lot to the table. The reason why you are not Atheist is because you cannot see anything but your religion.
