Its a shame that the new heritage park will only occupy 50% of the original site with the other half going to houses shops etc. They allways struggled for space originaly.

@dilanjai yep the funds have been raised and it is bringing back the very last remaining rides in the country from the early 1920's to the 1960's!!!

@MrVinalmagic Sorry mate the big wheel if I remember correctly was either scrapped or sold to a company in Germany but the fact of the matter is it will not be coming back to Dreamland (a big shame in my opinion)

im from california and ive never been to margate or the park but i somehow know of it in my dreams and i would like it to see it brought back to life.

Dreamland was best thing in Margate now the cinema has gone also all that's is Dreamland Amusement Arcade.

I went to Margate today and got pictures of Dreamland inside from the main entrance and also the cinema.

So sad Dreamland has gone but hey maybe it will return.

Thanks I love and miss Margate , I moved here in 1982. I worked for the Bembom Brothers at the Dream machines Arcade for 6 years 1989/1995 and will never forget the great memorys and all the friends made. Gods sake Thanet Council wake up and scrap the Arts then rebuild the old Pier, then remake the Classic Theme Park and change all the Arcades into Classic Arcades too, 10p/ 20p a go machines.A huge Swimming pool by the sea front. Refresh winter Gardens and create Cheap day breaks. Forever Joe.

im not saying they cant reopen it, im not saying no one would come and see it! of corse they will it would do wonders for margate! but the council wont do it! they rather waste their money on some poxy turner centre, which is also a con, millions spent, and not one brick layed!!!!!

You never know whats going to happen. There is no reason at all why it could not re-open and be a success. There are a lot of people like myself that would travel hundreds even thousands of miles to ride the Scenic Railway, and the kids of Thanet and the surrounding areas would have nothing else like it near by, so I think you underestimate the kinds of crowds this park could still pull in if run and maintained correctly.

Man, that park looks awesome. What happened to it? Why was it closed down. I do not understand?

A different owner took over the park, and then greed took over him !! Please do your bit by visiting the Save Dreamland campaign website and help by showing your support as and when you can. Dreamland will open again as the proposed first in the world heritage park, and the damaged section of the Scenic Railway will be re-built and thrill millions of new riders over the coming years. But everyones help is needed to make this happen.
