Personally i prefer LA Noire, mainly because i dont like having to press random buttons to get out of situations like you do in Heavy Rain. Like if you dont hit X soon enough you could lose a mission? Annoying as that is, LA Noire is annoying in the sense that the missions are all pretty much the and you can get interrogations wrong, but i much prefer it and i find overall more fun :)
Respond to this video... Well, the murder desk in LA Noire is similar to Heavy Rain, 1) The killer kills his victims the same way. (LA N. - Strangulation. Heavy Rain - Drowning) 2) The killer leaves behind clues for the 'seeker'. 3) The killer gets Phelps or Ethan to do tasks to find the location of the victim ( in Heavy Rain ) or the killer (in LA Noire ). Both games also feature origami. Hope this helps :P
Don't you guys know the laws of game comparison?! They must be in the same genre! Heavy Rain is an Interactive Drama. L.A. Noire is Action/Adventure. These two games simply can't be compared.

L.A. Noire i'm not done with it yet but the story is kind of messy at times. But I love the fact that it takes place around the 1940's and the interviewing the witness part's are fun!

@brodiem21 yepp..l.a. noire sounds like a totally normal game but with nice face animations(and this is probably the only special in this game) ..heavy rain is not comparable at all..the only thing what they've in common is CRIME..that's it...in heavy rain you've freedom of decision, four BEATIFUL playable characters(played by great actors), a special serial murder case, a incredibly nice dark scenery (with the rainfall and all),more than 20 amazing endings scenes ...etc. etc. etc.
I never played Heavy Rain but I heard it was great but I use to own L.A. Noire and beat the whole game, But L.A. Noire is better if your into those film-noir type games that's based in the 40s and even I did'nt like the end that much, It was so interesting from start to finish.
WHATS THE SONG AT THE END!!!!!! and although heavy rain kinda shows a new way of realistic and theatrical gameplay I'd rather L.A. Noire only because Rockstar games just impresses me with the huge worlds the create such as red dead redemption
But on topic i do vote for heavy rain , heay rain has a amazing gloomy atmospehere to it, you feel more connected to the characters around you, add a deep level. You see multiple perspectives and each person in the game CAN DIE! changing all the events and changing the outcome. Each character has problems and your able to work through them. LA noire fun game not great but seemingly fun but nowhere close to deep, heavy rain you can die at any moment it actually makes me stay on my toes and focus.
I only played heavy rain so I cant give a fair opinion but heavy rain is good from a cinematic perspective, my main complaints are:
-It's not an open world that i can explore for any extra fun or excitement.
-I cant drive a car, i can only start it then watch a cutscene of it driving away
-The detective guy who kinda looks like keanu reaves; every one of his parts were boring, i remember one part I had to look through files.. wtf how is that supposed to be fun?
@litdan It's not a game like Modern Warfare where you're supposed to just running around brainlessly killing everybody, die, repeat.
It's not a game like Grand Theft Auto where you kill hookers, hijack vehicles and generally causing mayhem.
It's a game that you are required to be emotionally connected to to enjoy. It's a game where you should live the story like you would be the one in it, and face the consequences of your choices.
Play it like that and I promise you it will be just perfect!

*SPOILER* I remember when she was visitingt he doctor and I wondered too far... here's the embarrasing part of this story- I was so scared for her that I turned off my PS3 when she was tied up. Yes Heavy Rain is a heavy experience, but some characters are so deep and intricate... to the extent that you try everything in your power to prevent them from dying.
This was so difficult....... I played and beat both... But I only recently beat L.A noire and my memory is still a bit hazy....
In all honesty though, Heavy rain was a really dark thriller throughout- L.a noire had its light rests inbetween and a bit of humour despite being a continuous string of murders. ANd because of that, I was really tempted to choose L.A noire-felt less gritty.
But Heavy Rain, I got platinum in, and L.a noire, i chose not to... so I guess that's saying something..
whatever you do the case will always solved in L.A Noire ... you can't make own decisions in this game and that makes it like any other normal game ... but in heavy rain you can decide how it will end or who shall die ... and that's in a manner...it doesn't matter how it ends...it always gives one goosebumps...(sry for my english)

Well i made my verdict, L.A. Noir no because of the graphics but of the immersive 40's world Rockstar created, they say that one of the developer's grand-father visited his childhood neighborhood in-game and he says it's how he remembered it.
Also the body language by the characters is immpresive that's why L.A Noire is best than Heavy Rain

L.A. Noire i'm not done with it yet but the story is kind of messy at times. But I love the fact that it takes place around the 1940's and the interviewing the witness part's are fun!

i dont think these are very comparable because heavy rain is quicktime and la noire isntyes theyre in the same genre but yes la noire is repetitive but if you can stick with it i think it tells a great story and gameplay is good too

@brodiem21 yepp..l.a. noire sounds like a totally normal game but with nice face animations(and this is probably the only special in this game) ..heavy rain is not comparable at all..the only thing what they've in common is CRIME..that's it...in heavy rain you've freedom of decision, four BEATIFUL playable characters(played by great actors), a special serial murder case, a incredibly nice dark scenery (with the rainfall and all),more than 20 amazing endings scenes ...etc. etc. etc.

I never played Heavy Rain but I heard it was great but I use to own L.A. Noire and beat the whole game, But L.A. Noire is better if your into those film-noir type games that's based in the 40s and even I did'nt like the end that much, It was so interesting from start to finish.

But on topic i do vote for heavy rain , heay rain has a amazing gloomy atmospehere to it, you feel more connected to the characters around you, add a deep level. You see multiple perspectives and each person in the game CAN DIE! changing all the events and changing the outcome. Each character has problems and your able to work through them. LA noire fun game not great but seemingly fun but nowhere close to deep, heavy rain you can die at any moment it actually makes me stay on my toes and focus.

I only played heavy rain so I cant give a fair opinion but heavy rain is good from a cinematic perspective, my main complaints are:
-It's not an open world that i can explore for any extra fun or excitement.
-I cant drive a car, i can only start it then watch a cutscene of it driving away
-The detective guy who kinda looks like keanu reaves; every one of his parts were boring, i remember one part I had to look through files.. wtf how is that supposed to be fun?

@litdan It's not a game like Modern Warfare where you're supposed to just running around brainlessly killing everybody, die, repeat.
It's not a game like Grand Theft Auto where you kill hookers, hijack vehicles and generally causing mayhem.
It's a game that you are required to be emotionally connected to to enjoy. It's a game where you should live the story like you would be the one in it, and face the consequences of your choices.
Play it like that and I promise you it will be just perfect!

*SPOILER* I remember when she was visitingt he doctor and I wondered too far... here's the embarrasing part of this story- I was so scared for her that I turned off my PS3 when she was tied up. Yes Heavy Rain is a heavy experience, but some characters are so deep and intricate... to the extent that you try everything in your power to prevent them from dying.
I vote Heavy Rain.

This was so difficult....... I played and beat both... But I only recently beat L.A noire and my memory is still a bit hazy....
In all honesty though, Heavy rain was a really dark thriller throughout- L.a noire had its light rests inbetween and a bit of humour despite being a continuous string of murders. ANd because of that, I was really tempted to choose L.A noire-felt less gritty.
But Heavy Rain, I got platinum in, and L.a noire, i chose not to... so I guess that's saying something..

whatever you do the case will always solved in L.A Noire ... you can't make own decisions in this game and that makes it like any other normal game ... but in heavy rain you can decide how it will end or who shall die ... and that's in a manner...it doesn't matter how it ends...it always gives one goosebumps...(sry for my english)

@XxAika Your Heartless, You assume that whoever you condemn to jail is the true killer? You would make the worst detective ever, How would that be different from Heavy Rain? You choose who goes to jail in L.A. Noire, effectively ending their life, in Heavy Rain you decide what the happens as well, In both games you work towards your goal, and in the end the conclusion of who is guilty and who is innocent, is up to You, the story is given to you, Your job, is to find the ending, the Correct One.

@mrjimmyos .. i think L.A noire is a nice game in between times ..but it isn't comparable with heavy rain, you know...they're both completely different games..the characters in heavy rain give the game and story so much deep and intensity .. heavy rain is unique..i would say a masterpiece all along the line...this diversity in the game is simply unbeatable..L.A noire is a nice crime-game about true cases but always the same, no matter what you do, the case will be solved anyway in the same way..

Well i made my verdict, L.A. Noir no because of the graphics but of the immersive 40's world Rockstar created, they say that one of the developer's grand-father visited his childhood neighborhood in-game and he says it's how he remembered it.
Also the body language by the characters is immpresive that's why L.A Noire is best than Heavy Rain
