  • How to lift corectly a dog with hipdisp.??

  • Alright, I'm doing this for a class project, so what are some cures to hip dysplasia, or are there none?

  • @crapheadandidiot

Depends on the level of degeneration in the joint, often times supportive care (NSAIDS/pain meds) along with rest and diet.

There are surgical corrections available too. There are total hip replacements available as there are in humans.

  • Hip dysplasia in dogs are very similar to arthritis in humans and it is very painful.

  • did anyone else notice that he is gay

  • This helped me alot thnx so much

  • if my dog ever gets hip dysplasia to the point where it changes hes mood or he has trouble walking around the block, and has trouble getting up, then its time for him to be put down, and all you so called dog lovers out there who let their dogs suffer and live with this problem should be put down them selfs. i find its mostly the old people that allow their dog to carry on suffering with this problem, i hate old people, their so fucking boring and annoying.

  • @thehomefront except for ww2 veterans

  • My German Shepherd is 14 weeks old at what age shuld i take her for x-rays please help.

  • not only dogs get dysplasia, humans get it too. i only know this because i have it. well i get the x-ray results tomoz.

  • Great vid! helps in Dx my GSD. His Sx are sadly enough textbook, and he'll be 10 this year ;(,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • my dog is currently getting hip displacement they say by her birthday she is going to have to be in a wheel chair. my dog is a mix breed. when we first saw her displacement she was walking swinging her hips all sassy like it was actually kind of funny to watch her. but funny went to sad when we relized what it really was. the sad thing is her in august 2010 her birthday present is going to be a wheel chair. happy birthday maggie!

  • Does anyone know if anything can be done about it? Like can cortizone be injected into the joint to lessen the dogs pain and increase its mobility, even if temporarily?

  • I don't know if anything can be done, but I have had a dog with this disorder and it was very upsetting. This is a painful, disabling problem. This is not a joke or a lie, please don't take it lightly, it could happen to me or you, because humans are equally affected!

  • the british accent is hot!

  • his accent is south african

  • My dog won't even stand up becuase hes in so much pain.I feel so bad.

  • I ain't gonna lie. Morkel's hot.

  • My female dog has moderate hip dysplasia. We bought her for breeding. She does the bunny hop thing. I got her x-rays done 2 weeks after she was done being in heat. Do you think that made the x-rays look wrong? Like maybe it looks like moderate but she doesnt have it?The male dog has normal hips. Can we breed those 2 if she has moderate but the male has normal?

  • id suggest not, the reason why you have a dog ith dysplacia in the first place is probably because of uninformed breeding in the first place.

Your puppies might not end up with moderate but severe ( the odds are there). Youd be bringing more pain into the world, pain in the new dogs and THEIR possible offspring and pain to the owners.

The fact that you asked this shows me that you are a thoughtful and compassionate person. please dont! continue trying to find healthy good tempered dogs 2 breed

  • @rouche310 NO! Why would you breed any dog with any hip problems. You are only going to make their pups suffer for the rest of their lives. Get another female and then breed but dont breed any dog with moderate hip problems.

  • hi, my dog has hip displacement. And i wanted to know if there are any chiropractic, non surgical treatments for this. she's about 90 lbs. Or if t there is any medications. Please get back really soon.

because we half to take her to the doctor tonight to problably put down...

  • Thank you for the explanation. Can anyone talk about Tests for puppies called Campbell tests?

  • Thnx a lot for the info provided, clear an understandable.

For you people out there who want to get a dog, Hyp Dysplasia (HD) comes in five different degrees

HD-A = No signs of HD

    HD-B = Transision form

    HD-C = Mild HD

    HD-D = Extensive HD

HD-E = HD in its worst case

So if you are buying a dog that is known for this disease please make sure that the parents are HD free ( Still it can develop HD but the chance is slimmer) And test the pup itself if possible.

  • @NVDRZ1M

Since you seem to be savvy on this topic, I was wondering if you know what is a good Distraction Index? I was recently looking at a pennhip report for the parent canine and its marked as: Left DI = 0.31, Right DI 0.50 .

Are these good figures compared to the average? or is this a liability to adopt a dog from this litter.

    Cheers,

  • @jfuchiga First i'm sorry for the late response :S , Then for your question the DI (Distraction Index) is derived from the PENNHip evaluation test, which can be scored 0 to 1 , 0 Being a tight joint and 1 being a loose joint (A loose joint being more vulnerable for the development of HD)

If this test is scored 0.3 Or above the chance of developing HD (either in a mild or severe state) is present.

If i am correct (And please correct me if im wrong) This test can be taken @ 4 months or older.

  • Thanks that was soo helpful :)

  • Very informative -- thanks for this video.

  • I'am so happy my dog doesn't have that is very bad!! My friend's dog's has hip dysplasia!! Is a yorkie!

  • Hi there,my dog fits all those categories i noticed that latley she does the hopping thing 2 What is the most important 1 thing that a pet owner can do 2 esae the dogs suffering :(

  • Thanks for the tip :)

  • Thank you for the explanation on hip dysplasia. It was helpful and concisely presented. I hope you od a followup one on treatments for this condition.

  • Have you ever tried Ester-C (brand vitamin C). About 2 grams or more a day does wonders for dogs joints.

Also add to that any good horse joint formula containing perna ( green lipid mussel) IT WORKS!!!!

  • Hmm. You needn´t give a dog vitamin c. It can produce it by itself.

  • Dogs as they age decrease in their ability to produce vitamin C.

Also ester C is chemically modified and enhanced so its has more benefits than natural C.
