I have the same problem with my tx-nr906. If it is warmed up then it will come on right away. But if it has been off for the night it take a long time to recognize anything. Everything I have is hooked up with the best Monster HDMI cables. I have a PS3 and a Scientific Atlanta 8240 cable box. It is very frustrating. Have you found a fix yet?
I cant believe you STACKED an Onkyo.And its underneath another unit??? Their AMPs are well known for higher heat to the point they eventually put a fan in the top of the newer NR609. Not your fault,but the research will show you that its an overheater. Unstack it and place it in a well ventilated area as described in most of the manuals.
My TX-NR906 has the same problem. I noticed the issue started when I added my Samsung BD-C6500 blu-ray player to the receiver. My work around for the issue shown above is to leave my TX-NR906 on all the time. When I am not watching TV I switch my HDMI input to my Western Digital Live player. I keep both on all the time, but I turn off my TV. Since the receiver is on all the time, I do not have to wait a long time for picture and sound to come in. Hope that helps.
I have the same problem with my TX-SR876. It first started out only taking a few finutes to right itself. No it takes at LEAST 20 minutes. I've written ONKYO and got a generic response. Have you found a solution or did you have to take yours in to a solution center?
