hahah dang.. same thing happened to me today. i got a new digitizer from ebay.. so before putting everything together i had to remove the spoilt digitizer off the screen.. but just like your even mine came off.. aaargh.. the thing you callin LCD isnt LCD!!! its just a back light :( the digitizer u showin holds the liquid! .. i got a new digitizer now i have to order a new LCD .. bad bad bad :(

I've seen just the LCD's on eBay for pretty cheap, but people say I must replace everything, is this true? Because it seems impossible to remove the LCD from the glass...

hey hey buy a new digitizer & new lcd from ebay... i just got a digitizer from ebay but ... while separating the old digitizer from the lcd.. my LCD got fucked .... the digitizer n lcd u get for less than $50.. its the safe way to do it..

Well, it seems that you've just separated the lcd matrix and the backlight, not the digitizer and whole lcd which part that displays the image is still glued to the glass.

I cannot aggree on this video. I'm a very very careful person and I always fix phones in my family but this was a little bit too much. I dropped my iPhone and the glass cracked. I ordered a new glass off ebay for about a $6 and started replacing it. After 10 minutes of super-careful work (removing it with a speed of 1 square inch/20 min) my digitizer broke. I tried to keep removing it and it broke again at a different spot. Then the cracks became bigger so stoped and ordered the whole assembly!

no the LCD was actually lighting up. and you could be right, i dont know thought because when i tried to put on the new digitizer i cracked it. But someone told me that an LCD was suppose to create white light to like shine through something to create the pixels. but i dont know

Maybe it was the glare but if the LCD is lighting up just white then most likely the LCD needs to be replaced also. Or you just didn't have it plugged in properly.

well youll actually most likely have to break the front glass off to get to the digitizer, so you ll have to get a new one of those. and then what you did between the front glass and digitizer you do the same for the digitizer and the LCD. what you do it get a hair dryer or heat gun to heat up the glue holding the two items together then you have to pry it off in small pieces with a thin bladed knife. this is a long process, it took me hours.

I have dead strip too . I removed front glass from digitizer and lcd without braking stuff . I was just careful . Most amazing is that I dropped my iphone from 10-20 cm on the carpet and dead strip appeared on bottom of the phone . There is just 3 stores in my country and all is 350 km away from me . damn . I contacted them but they replayed that they don't fix iphones . shame apple .

@lauris47 hi mate im from Australia i got on ebay.. i bought the glass screen from the US for 30 dollars then i realised that i needed a lcd screen so i ordered it from hong kong for 40 dollars.. they both took 1 week to come.. so u cant tell me you couldnt find it just jump on ebay and you'll find heaps of things for the iphone.. have a nice day..
