I respect Beck a lot more than I care for his music. I love this Beefheart tune and won't die from this cover of it, I guess.

Have you ever heard "Fast 'n' Bulbous"? The title is obviously from the TMR dialogue but it is actually a Beefheart tribute album, with 15 or so bands of the late 80's, Early 90's covering their favourite Beefheart records. Off the top of my head, Sonic Youth play Electricity, Killing Joke appear, Mock Turtles, I think XTC do Ella Guru.

It's really good. even if you aren't a fan of the bands themselves, the music they are playing is obviously second to none!

Think it's pretty rare though.

Cool, thanks! I'm actually a fan of Sonic Youth and XTC, and while I usually leave tribute albums alone I'm gonna at least look online for where I can listen to some or all of this. Thanks again for the heads up.

@Triplesod Have you heard of Neon Meate Dream of a Octafish?Its another tribute to Capt Beefheart.Its on CD and came out in 2003. Thats got some good stuff on it(some is a bit naff though)..never heard of any of the bands on it but I think a few of the people who did Fast n'Bulbous are involved,Thurston Moore etc

Naaaahhhh, this cover's okay. He respects it as a blues number with the Captain's Sea Shanty lyrics and Beck's doing it in the first place deserves respect.
