Wonderful such a great film and the best film score ever written. Ennio Morricone rips your heart out when you watch this masterpiece. Every scene is dripping with sheer class with a story of love and betrayal over several decades which has yet to be matched. The music just adds the icing to an experience very rarely achieved by Hollywood. Sergio and Ennio thank you for such a wonderful cinematic moment.

Once upon a time in America, many unforgettable movies were made. This is one of the most memorable, continually fascinating with a knock-out cast and a superb music score. Morricone should have won many Oscars for his hundreds of scores. Hollywood finally decided to give him an honorary Oscar a couple of years ago. The 2-disc, "complete" version of the movie is definitely worth owning as is the soundtrack album. Bravo Leone, Morricone, crew and cast.

Every time I watch this movie I wish it were longer. Ennio Morricone's soundtrack makes a great film truly sublime. I can't think of a better film, although Cinema Paradiso (also Morricone) comes close for me, for very different reasons.

I love this movie, watched it back in 84, bought the video then the DVD, just waiting for Blu Ray version. The haunting soundtrack is brilliant, Debora's Theme which is playing on this video gets me everytime.

Better than the Godfather, the Usual Suspects,Gone with the Wind,Titanic or indeed any film genre you care to appease with. Why oh why did this not win all the oscars back in 1984. Even the film soundtrack was 12 years in the making actually maybe it was closer to 15 years as I know that Leone was going to do this instead of Once upon a time in the West in 1968. studio pressure got in the way.Rest easy SL

I saw this movie original version in 1984 and was mesmorized by it. I saw it again a couple of days ago and it brought back the same feelings. Leaves you wanting more even after 3 hours.

I've got to tell you, with a film this great, I don't see how it got the reviews that it got when it was first released. I mean, they did release it heavily edited with about an hour and a half worth of footage missing, but if you watch all three and a half hours of this movie from start of finish, in my opinion, this movie is better than the Godfather.

A masterpiece. Not a typical gangster flick by any means.Leone turned down The Godfather so he could work 14 years on this.Its an episodic tale of losing time.Sure it has gangster elements in it but its more about love hate and regret, the most potent of all human emotions.This should have won every oscar going in 1984 but poor editing & lack of ;promotion put paid to that. This is the great lost classic of all time .On the 20th year since his death RIP Sergiom Mick Williams
