  • With the season we had this year, we needed as many sirens as possible

  • Is this the same 3T22 that is in your 3-22-11 Tornado Video ?

  • @garyhstorms10 Yes it is.

  • I love the pitch this one has! Definitely a single phase version (3T22B), and it sounds pretty healthy aside from the bearings being pretty sticky. Very nice capture!

  • @murrfarms Doesn't it remind you of that XT22 on McConnell AFB that was sounding off for that Tornado 20 years ago?

  • @Siren1000T1 It really does, sounds very close. I think this one may be a shade lower pitched than McConnell's, because that one was right on par with the pitch of Rhine's, which is higher than this 3T22.

  • @murrfarms It IS higher pitched actually. I just played that compared with this and found out that it is higher pitched. I don't know if McConnell AFB still has that XT22 but when I looked in Bing Maps, I found a Modulator on the base. Can't really tell if its in the same spot as to where the XT22 use to be though.

  • @Siren1000T1 McConnell got rid of all their old CD sirens long ago. Back around Y2K, some kind of federal mandate for all military installations forced them to replace the old mechanical system with a "giant voice" siren system, aka Modulators and Whelens. Some bases held onto their old sirens as a means of a "backup" system, while they still have a new system of voice-capable sirens. That's what our AFB here did, they still have about a dozen Thunderbolts still standing, but silently.

  • @murrfarms I think that's brush drag
