Guys, Using a pick is either for preference or what the style of music needs, doesn't make you shit because you use one.. I personally use both techniques for whatever I'm playing, Disturbed bassist uses one and I'd love to see you try 'Inside The Fire'. Also he said Nate had a sticker on his bass saying 'Real Men Use Picks'..it was never said by @pflykyle so don't jump down his throat, cmon I'm 15 and I understand perfectly.
@Simmeringtim dude, listen to that tone man!! That is so PHAT! Playing on the neck does that. Great cover, nice improv, great tone, lovely bass, and my word, your sofa looks comfy!! Bravo pal, Bravo
ya he is right, i dont like that much using pick, but if you want to do a cover of a foo fighters song on bass you ought to use pick dude, btw nice cover
i got a bass for christmas and i have started learning this song on tab, i really didnt get the bit at 3:00 but seeing you play it really helps :) thankyou and you rock :D
@ebaymotion normally funk players are the finger style masters, however, amongst others, have you ever watched Steve Harris of Iron Maiden play? not my kinda music really, but that guy plays finger style, and has some very very fast B lines
@pflykyle I actually don't think ive ever recalled Nate using a pick. And im a bassist and i dont use a pick. It just depends on what music you play. I would have to re-arrange your quote and say "Real men play bass".
@lovedrive3 Agh por que tienen que hablar como rateros estos tipos, respeto por el lenguaje, y no, esa cancion fue grabada con Pick por que no habria de usarse?
Great playing man. Your video helped me to learn the song myself.

Yeah, it's cool if they use fingers or pick, as long as they play bass they're cool.
...But to say that "real men use picks??" I can't find the words to describe how stupid that is...

a pic is just another style
just because you use a pic doesn't make you a worse player
get over it

Why are you playing on the neck as opposed to near the bridge or pickups?

It's actually a 75 or 76 P-Bass. I changed the hardware and neck, as they were pretty worn. Kept that classic pickup though.
