Yes, it dries out the hair. Salt water and sun help the locking process...

If your hair is not kinky, you most likely need backcombing and crocheting.

Thank you! Yeah, Luca convinced us all to let him have dreads. And he has not gotten tired of them yet. The only thing he got a bit tired off is people wanting to touch his dreads! :)
