I bought the disc-lock alarm XZN8, I would like to know if it is normal for the alarm module (plastic part) has a certain movement, you can lift up to a certain point with a finger (not too much, but enough to insert a screwdriver and pry), I refer to the black alarm module. although it is locked can be moved with the hands (where the X) of a few cm. the product was purchased new. sorry for my English but I am Italian
Caro MegaTubeone, grazie infinite per suo interesse (please forgive our Italian!). A certain degree of "play" in the alarm module of this model makes it possible to get some small purchase underneath it. Note that exploiting this would require expert handling on the part of a thief and would at most disengage the alarm (which would be sounding before he could manage to remove it) and would have no effect on the security offered by the lock itself. Tanti saluti, Team XENA
Dear dmartin23, thanks for the comment. To clarify: all XENA disc-lock alarms, including the XZZ6L, have since late 2010 been built with the same 120dB alarm powered by a single long-life Lithium CR2 battery. Any reference to 110dB is from the previous generation and may have slipped through in our marketing during the transition. Team XENA
Do you have a disc lock where the actual alarm unit isn't made of plastic? I bought one of these but fear it wouldn't take much more than a small torch lighter the quickly melt through the siren in the lock and render it useless.
@jetjaxon Dear Jet, many thanks for your comment... yes, our new XX series locks present an uninterrupted stainless-steel surface to the attacker (see our XX videos here). With regards the XZZ6L and its plastic component, regardless of what a thief could accomplish with a torch lighter -- and it would be a while before the internal components themselves were affected -- this kind of attack would have zero effect on the lock itself, which would still have to be removed. All the best, Team XENA
