  • not the originals

  • There is such an appreciation for this fine music, just listen to the audience at the beginning...

  • They should listen to Joey Vann (Canzano) or Mike Reilly

  • Wonderful song, wonderful performance, and nice touch at the end.

  • And I grew up with music.. Todays crap should be banned

  • Wonderful voices. 5 people are tone deaf.

  • I dont know why people get mad about them using the name, Richie was the lead singer of the Duprees since 1975 so get over it he was better then any orginal Vann, or Kelly... With Tommy as lead now they should be called the wantabees lol...

  • Get used to it! This group of imposters have been together longer than the original Duprees and are all great singers keeping the great Duprees sound alive! Without these guys you would have NO DUPREES!!!

  • Are they the Original Duprees? If not they are doing a Great Job! The Lead Singer is So Handsome. Sings Fabulous! Love this Song and Them. GIGI

  • @gingercarco426

No, they are not original members, which upsets many people that they use the name.

  • @DooWopJoe they may not be the originals BUT THEY ARE THE BEST!!!!!

  • @gingercarco426 The lead Singer is not the orginal. He did sing on and off with them thru the years. He sang lead when they appeared on the first PBS Doo Wop show.

The orginal laed is now back and you can see him on the one of these videos. The other three have been there for years.

  • I love this group of the "Duprees". Lead singer's voice is awesome.

  • well...1. they are not the origianls. 2. they should have a thier own name. 3 they are very good!!! i gotta say...awesome!!!

  • This FAKE group should be ashamed to get on stage and impersonate the original Duprees.

They STINK and should be ordered by a judge to stop using a name that doesn't even belong to them! "Give them the hook", my pop would always say.

  • Year old kid listening to this great group

  • @georgerestivo

    Cool comments, George! Thanks!

  • Let me tell you about the Duprees. I lives on 85 storms avenue in jersey city. The Duprees made their start singing in Joey Santollos house on Storms avenue and I would sit on my cousins porch and listen to them practise the original lead was a guy by the name of Joey Vann who lead them to fame. I am 63 years old and was a 13 t

  • I just love him...I could listen to him sing all night..He is awesome, great song keep singing Ritchie Rosato..We loved you then and Love you now...........big time

  • Just love this guy! Sings the song great and he is awesome

  • I think each case is different. I've seen "original" groups with one backup member acting like the lead singer on hits and being terrible. I'm in favor of great music. This is great. This same group of "Duprees" sang three songs at one of the great PBS specials years ago. They knocked them out. This song, as great as it is, may not be played in 50 years. The originals are gone, but I vote for the songs to survive. Keep it playing.

  • @LOCKED121 I hope you are wrong. I hope it keeps playing for another 50 years more. It would be a tragedy if that is not so.

  • Must be a lot of youngsters throwing out lead singer names here. Michael Kelly was the original lead singer of the DuPrees. That was when they WERE The DuPrees. Rosato is good & so were some of the others but are not and never will be the same as the Originals from 62!

  • this is a joke. when joey vann left that was the end of the duprees. i'm so tired of seeing all of these gret groups from the sixties. many of them do not have any original members left. after a while i think its time to give it up and let people remember these groups the way they really were. but i know as long as theres mony to be made this will go on. as for me i will not pay any money to see teses imposters

  • This is such a beautiful song! I remember buying The Duprees Greatest Hits album when I was like 12 year old lol! I was born in the 80s but was still always a 50s kid! =)

  • You so right ,Tommy could not hold a candle to him . But of course ,lets not forget Joey Canzano original lead singer .Its a shame they just dug these guys up and called them something that they wish they were and thats the original Duprees Oh well, guess will have to deal with the imposters for alittle while longer till the trade mark gets to where it belongs Amen

  • La mia canzone preferita oldies! i testi sono molto sentite..

  • Mike Kelly is still the best Lead .

  • this is the best of the Duprees.....I loved Joey but richie Rosato is great...

  • Yes that is the one and only Ritchie Rosato singing as great as ever...Not a has been ..He was and still is great and sings this song til today..I Love Ritchie Rosato<3

  • :56 second mark....Send me photographs and what buddy??? :)

  • @NJPlayer79

    Send me photographs and souvenirs.

  • Sorry, not the originals!! I wouldn't pay to see them. Mike Kelly, sometimes lead and Tommy Bialoglow are still alive, and doing very well. Just my opinion!! Phyllis..

  • richie is way better then the originals

  • irdc009 did a better job than this singer!

  • isn't that Ritchie Rosato singing here? sure as hell looks like him to me.

  • you may fight in court for your musical rights to the duprees, but let the music play

  • the greatest and most beautiful love song of all time

  • If Congress would ever pass a law that actually makes sense and do the public some good, singing groups with zero original performers would be banned from using the name. Can he sing better than me? Sure he can. Is he anywhere near the original? Nope. If they would just call themselves "The Imposters," I would be fine with their performance. Oh well.

  • @Me112233

There are now 33 states that have such a law, and efforts are far along to make it a federal law, hopefully very soon. The man behind the Truth in Music bills is Jon Baumann, better known as Bowser of Sha Na Na.

  • @Me112233 The law that has been passed in many states says that the group has to have at least one original member OR own the legal rights to the name. The court case was decided in favor of Tony Testa and the current group of Duprees, so they have the legal right to use the name.

  • @TopazDupree Oh well. That's a sad state of affairs. Law need fixing. At a minimum, they should have to disclose in clear language in advertising that these folks are simply a cover group and have no actual members of the Duprees that were members of the Duprees the time that they were getting radio play and had hits making the Billboard charts. Leave it to the politicians to allow people to deceive the public (but then, the politicians would never pass a law that would affect themselves).

  • @Me112233 I agree with you.thanks for the post.

  • @Me112233 Are you a skeptic or a cynic

  • @Me112233 Hello my friend its here now ,and its called the truth in music law . It keeps bogus groups like this from stealing the $ out of the pockets of the originals . Youll get flack from people who dont care about the originals only the music . But , if it wasent for the originals , there would be no music to steal from So I say to those who dont care , theses guys can never go to the bank and cash a check that says The Duprees ,because a there as phoney as a three dollar bill SORRY !

  • @mrconcertman RICHIE IS THE BEST LEAD I'VE EVER HEARD SING WITH THE DUPREES,THE OTHERS WERE PASTEL COMPARED TO HIM!!!

  • @Me112233 The lead singer, Richie Rosato was the best the duprees ever had in the past 20-years, now that he left the group, the Dupress will NEVER be the same or as good. IMO and BTW I knew and use to hang out with the Original Dupress way back in 1964-1965, in Jersey City, New jersey.

Those were the Good OLD Days, but sorry to say they are GONE forever, but always will be in my heart.

  • @keygroove I agree. The Petillo verson, a Tribute band, kinda bothers me. To much puttin on.

  • The music goes on still

  • Looooove the Duprees back then and now...they sound better today even though different ones are in the group.

  • Hey Richie, u remember when i drenched you at Kutchers, at the break? Mark was so pissed at me but it wasn't my fault. Hope you changed fast to get to the next set. It was one of those things, i got up to go to the service bar cause the girls were so overloaded, and got a couple drinks, waked out of the bar, and POW we finally met! I apologized all over myself but gracious as you are said hey no problem bro. I hope to see you in Margate with the group soon.. get it back Richie We Luv U Ronnie

  • no body sings like richie,,,i am so glad i found him again,,,with the inferno's,,,and i will find out when he is performing in the south jersey/philly area,,,,sing richie,,,<3

  • Again a nice posting! Long Live Doo Wop!!!!!

  • LoVe this SoNg

    The DUPREES are FANTASTIC

  • The present Duprees are so inferior now that Richie Rosato no longer sings lead for them, Richie you were the best their best lead singer.

  • I Love you Ritchie 'Rosato......You can sing this to me anytime..Love you<3

  • I Love Ritchie Rosato...<3

  • For a long time you couldnt find a video of the Duprees w/ Richie Rosato as lead. Glad they fixed that !

  • Correction! There are two original members of Duprees still alive. Tommy Bialoglow and John Salvato. Both were inducted into Group Hall of Fame in Sharon, PA. Anthony Caggiano sounds exactly like Joey Vann. He sang lead with Duprees for a short period of time. Rosato is great and so is current lead, Tommy Petillo. Johnny Rand

  • @johnrand09 Mike Kelly should be considered an original member, too. After all, he sang on the Duprees demos, which got them their start and took over lead in 1964 after Canzano left. My order of preference is Kelly, Canzano (Vann), and then Rosato. Forget the rest.

  • Mr Petillo and Tony Testa`s version of the Duprees also sound great. The truth is , the only survivng original Dupree was Mr. Bialoglow, who was inducted in the Rock N Roll hall of Fame representing the originals.Richie Rosato sounds the closest to original singer Joey Canzano aka Joey Vann.

  • @thebigfist The original members of The Duprees were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in Sharon PA as part of the Class of 2006. Tom Bialoglow represented the group at the award ceremony, held on Nov. 6, 2008. You can view photos of the induction ceremony on the Vocal Group Hall of Fame official website.

  • Loved you then and love you now...You are just great....

  • This is the best sounding version of the original group. I may be a little prejudice, Jimmy Spinelli is a friend and long time former neighbor of mine.

  • Richie Rosato blows Mike Kelly out of the water

  • ahhhh, this is nice for a tribute group. Rosato is the best thing since Joey Canzano (Vann).

    Thanks for the post,

    ken

  • @kjboogie DITTO!!!

  • they are a great copy band.and pay ritchie.what ever he want's the other guy not

  • Mike Kelly was the best, Richie was a good sub. I hope Mike gets the name back. He is essentially origional and this bunch with Petrillo should just call themselves something else.

  • Tony Testa parades around like he's some kind of superstar! Truth is he's a latter day replacement back up singer! Richie Rosato has credential as a 25 year or so member as lead singer. If the surviving original members win their lawsuit and get the name back they could do alot worse than bring Mr Rosato back.

  • I just love Ritchie Rosato and by the way he is now with the Infernos another great band..Go Ritchie sing it...

  • The original lead singer was Joey Canzano AKA Chubby or Joey Vann as he was known in the group ( stage name ) he was the best !!!

  • Great song and lead singer.....Keep 'em coming.....Jim - "Lola and The Saints"

  • Thanks for this wonderful video clip.

  • The Duprees were and are no more. Good group back when. Today, who knows who these guys are. This video lead singer is gone now too, I think.

  • As mentioned above, the lead singer, Richie Rosato, is now with the Infernos.

  • @brutusdog I loved Joey Van and The Duprees but all but 3 of those guys are dead and Tom the falsetto dropped out of the group even before Have You Heard, So what you have here is sorry they are dead for the most part! what can you do? , Even if Mike Kelly and John Salvato ( I love them both) get the legal rights to the name it will still not be the original group , what you at least have here is guys who can sing and carry on in some familiar fashion the smooth, big band Dupree sound,

  • @brutusdog THE FRONTMAN HERE IS RICHIE ROSATO. TOM D BRICK,NJ

  • We enjoyed this until he let the audience finish it. His dramatic ending had always been one of our favorite parts of this song!

  • Richie Rosato, now with the Inferno's in New Jersey

  • Comment removed

  • Joey, I loved this lead singer, do you have his name!! Gosh, how great can you get!! The Duprees, a household name.....
