I was messing around with the pentatonic on this one because it was new to me so just trying it out, I find it to be quick & easy to produce solos using this scale.Cheers.
Sounds great! say, how do you get to the point that you are using all of the C blues scale notes, but avoiding making it sound like you are just going up and/or down the scale note by note? Is it a matter of memorizing which notes are in the scale, rather than memorizing the scale itself up and down? Thanks!
@Streamliner1000 , Hi thanks for your comments, I guess it's a case of remembering shapes of notes within the scale rather than the scale itself. On this video I'm using small groups of maybe 3 or 4 notes from the scale and also running up and down.
If you remember the shape of a small group of notes like that you can then apply them in any key.
I've tried the Nord, Korg CX and VK7 & 8 and the VK8 has by far the best tone when played live. I run mine through a pair of JBL EON G2 10" and it kills. I tweeked the EQ to avoid the "brightness" issues and have had Nord owners try it and they wish they had bought the VK8. I love NI's B4II, but I dont trust a laptop for gigging as much as I do a piece of keyboard gear on a gig.
Not every Hammond tonewheel was a B3+Leslie 122 you know. This organ sounds fine as it is; better than some "real" Hammonds I've heard.
Even B3's and Leslie's can be worlds apart because of age, tuning accuracy, maintenance or lack thereof, and sometimes even modifications to the organ or Leslie.
The COSM Leslie model can be adjusted to get the sound you want. Also run this thing in stereo with two amps if you really want to hear how nice the Leslie emulation is. I love my VK8m and don't miss dragging 500 lbs of B3 and Leslie cabnets around.
Very nice. I have an OB3 squared. It's pretty nice for somebody that can't afford a VK8 or a VK8M... My only complaint is the that when playing solo, the fast leslie speed sounds a little fake.
Does this organ have a vox continental patch? If so can you please do a demo of it? If not can you please demo some of the other organ sounds? Also how much does it weigh? Cheers from Sydney.
Hi, it has 64 preset organ sounds & 8 other tones; piano etc..I think one of the presets is a vox, I will do some more demos over the next few weeks so please keep checking my videos. It weighs 14.5kg/32lbs. Keep watching. Lester.
yeah, both really good makes; I love the Roland gear especialy because of the feel and sound. The keys on the VK-8 are slightly yellowed for effect and the drawbars, percussion tabs and key click are awsome, add that to the infra red effect beam and I'm sold.
@lestercsoule Here come a noob question:
What kind of amplificator or speaker do i need to play this kind of organ ?
Thank you

organ sounds too bright. leslie is average at best and something unpleasing about the 1' drawbar. not an impressive tonewheel by today's standards.

that is bad ass. you look like you know what you're doing, and the vk-8 sounds dynamite... very close to the b3.
tgs6733 4 years ago
Thanks very much, the VK-8 is a great bit of kit, closest you'll get to a b3 I think. Lester.

Hey, must you absolutely have a lesie to get the B3 sound, or will any soun system do??

what you can hear on this is my Roland KC 550 amp. A lot lighter than a leslie! sounds as good I think. Lester.
