  • Say what? And your expertise comes from having done this yourself?

Ah, it's always easy being a critic, isn't it? Try to understand each individual artist and ENJOY.

  • human love!

  • Mozart wrote this for those ladies who get up there and sing it.

  • That was a fabulous high C and that was a true master piece of singing of this work.

  • she makes it look so easy

  • Tolle Stimme, tolle Frau !

  • Definitely one of my favourite versions, Te Kanawa's creamy perfectly controlled voice, and great organ playing in the background (some versions ommit it :-/ )

One of Mozart's absolute best, genius!

  • A wonderous rendition, gorgeous voice and a beautiful woman.

  • Pure cream coming out of her mouth. I was privleged to see her many times at Met and se never disappointed.

  • She looks worried.

  • God! Her voice is in perfect shape here- so pure and clear! Marry me Kiri! Hahahaha.

  • I didn't expect that she can sing this so well - i'm impressed! ♥

  • In a class her own (especially when singing WAM).

  • Esta música devia ser tocada diáriamente com carácter de obrigatoriedade nas prisões e nos reformatórios.

  • Don't think she was tired, think she was totally focussed and concentrating - fabulously musical singing. Love her tone..so even throughout the range..damn, that lady can sing!

  • Oh... thats just marvellous!

  • Does anybody else think she looks exactly like Judlth Light?

  • @nihilistopher LOL!!!! HA! You're right!

  • En honor de Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, que se nos "jubila"...En honor de Mozart, que es inmortal.

  • sounds great!!! The 'hallelujah' (means more than simply "praise Yah", as the word hallel in Hebrew means a joyous praise, to boast in God, or to act madly or foolishly. The second part, Yah, is a shortened form of the name of God YHWH, sometimes rendered in English as "Yahweh" or "Jehovah") is boring, indeed.

  • I love kiri and her work on the et virginus is wonderful. Is it me or may she have been tired at the alleluja? She doesn't smile, some of the energy is lost..

  • Such pure joy in her voice during the Alleluia! It made me smile :D

  • Perfecto!! Gorgeous!! I love this piece and Kiri is an amazing singer, she does Mozart so well.

  • That top C wanted to fly! The conductor followed Mozart not Te Kanawa :(

  • the end is quite thrilling. Her voice doesn't thin out at all!

  • kanawa lacking soul?

my god, don't you have more rubbish to say?

"mozart's music"? and who do you think is OK for this piece then??

  • She does in fact feel the music her soul, however is able to keep in tact that amazing quality to interpret Mozart. The grace and delicacy is usually butchered by most singers, Mozart is Kiri's specialty, and you can hear the joy of Mozart's mind through her gorgeous voice.

  • People will kill me for saying this, because Kiri's considered the queen of this piece, but Renee does this so much better. See her youtube clip ;)

  • I disagree completely. This piece requires facility, precision, and elegance. Fleming is totally sloppy, scoopy, and cheap. She's ok with whole notes, but 16ths are not for her. If you haven't a clean scale, don't sing Mozart.

  • Precisely right. Kiri knows exactly what she's doing at all times. Total command.

  • I don't think Renee and coloratura go together. Her voice is often too 'heavy' for fast sixteenths and coloratura passages. She's great singing long sustained notes, but not rapid scales.

  • @musicyh do you mean Renee or Kiri? I agree Renee singing Rossini doesn't sound so right... and Kiri would never sing Rossini cos she's smart...

  • @yehweita I mean Renee. I love Renee singing verismo and Puccini things, but not Mozart (it just doesn't sound 'right').

  • Amazing! Dame Kiri is fantastic as always!

  • If you think this is 'perverse' then you have not the faintest idea of how Mozart should be sung. Your comment parades your ignorance of the art

  • This is how this motet has to be sung...

  • i do feel like she does it way more in the Mozartian style than anyone else I've seen
