The drummer from Red Chevrons uses one of these, if you listen to their songs you can hear it records incredibly well!

Go to their myspace and listen to the 3rd song from the bottom, you'll see what I mean

i have a mega bell ride and i dnt really use it . idk really wat the purpose of it is . like you guys say its for being used in loud situations but is tht like in a concert band or on the set because im thinking about getting rid of it and i just wanted some input thanks

The Z Custom / Z3 Mega Bell Ride isn't designed to crash on. That's why it sounds crap when you do. It's really thick therefore is designed for a ping ride. Which makes it easier to make out in loud situations.

actually zildjian came up first with huge bell rides... Like vinnie paul said that he used to think that zildjian mega bell ride is the best ride on the planet but then sabian relased the power bell ride.

Really I have never been so impressed in a ride cymbal sound ever cuase they all sound too.. Quite? If you will. This ride though just cuts through and I like its power and the quality of its sound on a CD. I'd have to agree its more for heavy Metal or rock though.

The only thing this ride is good for is the bell for some metal beats. May as well buy a 9.5 Zil-Bel. Not saying that Zildjian isn't my favorite cymbal maker ever but Z3's and this ride in particular just don't do it for me.

@flashvideomasta, I agree. I bought a mega bell ride without trying it, and the ride is awful sounding and almost useless. It's a 300+ dollar piece of shit. Now I just stack a zil-bel on top of my 20" paiste ride, and it works very well. You get a nice sounding ride with a great bell too.

To be honest with all of you guys that says zildjian sucks or whatever you say, its a question of taste...you like it or not. For me, I own this one and its my favorite ever and I played with lots of diffrent brand.

i have i own a 16" zildjian k custom rock crash and it sounds like a paiste flanger bell i hate zildjian they don't even sound good and they break way to fast they don't even stand up to sabian.

Played Zildjians and Sabians for years and years...Dreams and Saludas for a couple only. And all those cymbals sounds great in any way.

you gotta understand this is a THICK cymbal and is to be used in very LOUD settings.....personally I think the Z custom mega bell kicks the shit outta any other "mega bell" pussy rides made by sabian, paiste, or meinl.

@stixflix06 Totally agreed with you there man; the Eclipse is nuts. The Blue Bell, is similarly amazing. Zildjian and Sabian (And Meinl as well) definitely a few nice cymbals, but in my experience, for every good thing they have, Paiste's got a better one :P

If the ride actually becomes overwhelming for me, I just put on some moongels for duct tape on the cymbal

Man zildjian is now really a expanded brand that gets the ideas from other companies and yet they havent copied the most important one(HAND HAMERING) they ruined the tradition...even that they were the first to invent the turkish cymbal...my grandfather's friend used zildjian untill they started to make them by machines...I personaly use Paiste(the best brand and they use a pheunomatic hamer with a human guiding it)Bosphorus, Istambul Agop and Istanbul mehmet.

One of the best i've heard as far as big bells is the Paiste Rude Eclipse ride. Quite big at 24" but pretty well controlled and phenomenal sounding.

I love mine too. It's a little finnicky, play it too hard and you get big overtones, but when you do find the sweet spot it is fucking music! And that bell...wooah!
