the ancient wisdom which saints preserve, the milk man of universal kindness, and the practice of nomarky (not leaving a permanent mark on nature), let us not be marked by this which world generalize and tear us apart, not sensing our inner truth, inner gifts and purpose, we all rise together, like the petals of the flower, like the plants of the forest,

Correction. Gary White Deer is not a Chickasaw Indian. He is Choctaw a completely different tribe. Though both tribes are apart of the Five Civilized tribes and reside in the same territories, Gary is technically Choctaw and considers himself such. He is an expert in Chickasaw culture, but he is in fact choctaw. The label under the video should be changed.
i am proud to be a Chickasaw Indian not a Nation indian
people only see what the chickasaw nation does for the white mans eyes to see, that is why the chickasaw nation has more whites in the tribe than real full bloods
Halito from Michigan. I have been far removed from Okla Humma because my mother married a dutch man when I was 4. Today I play the flute, learning of Choctaw history and taking language courses from choctaw nation online. I would be very happy if other Choctaws could add me to friends list here on youtube and talk. Thank you.
..it was bad editing..they filmed us doing many intertribal dances but with a stomp dance song overlayed..which was led by Mr. Farron Cully..they did not match the individual filmed dances with the audio recorded singing..they edited the wrong ones together..white people for ya..lol..but we in the troupe all know the difference..hope this clears that up.
@crazy..To clarify your comments..i belonged to this dance troupe when this was filmed. We were called the "The Southeastern Tribal Dance Troupe". I am Choctaw, n Mr. WhiteDeer is Choctaw..along with others. However, many were other tribes such as Chickasaw, Creek, and Seminole...we did songs and dances from all of this southeastern region tribes..as for the video..
Damn BS...ing ! The song they were singing is a Traditional Stomp Dance song, and they were not even dancing a Traditional stomp dance. And we never touch another person while we dance Traditional or even Ceremonially.....................
It is between Ada, and Allen, Oklahoma, South of Highway 1 : It is closer to Allen than Ada.once you turn off of Highway 1, going south, you are already on the reservation. I am not sure how they spell it. Sounds like KALAHOMA, but think it is spelled KULAHOMA
Interesting and those are definitely Chickasaw dancers but I've never heard the name White Deer among Chickasaws or Choctaws. Maybe it's his stage name, to sound more Indian than Colbert or Love or Moore....
I did not grow up with my grandmother, and she has since passed away. My mother tells me that she was Chocktaw and Chickasaw. The only thing I kow is that she lived in Monroe Louisiana, but it is possible that she grew up further south in the state. Does anyone know how I could verify my heritage?
hmmm....you could try contactin' oklahoma indian reservation,....maybe they can help ya,....well, that's my two cents,.....wish a lot of luck Mariposafuerte!= )
ahhh....by traditional ya mean, buckskin clothes and mocassins? That's better, the otomi ppl. also wear this "White Assimilation Clothing" as does María Elena Velasco, alias, "La India María".
Choctaw baby!! SO funny how this reminds me of much of the old time Gospel acapella music that my Grampaw who was part Choctaw used to listen to from down in the south.
i feel y'all. you'd think you have nothing with those people, but they're 'our people. i don't know if it's cause i used to be a musician but when i hear these songs i instinctively know that's in me. i'm from ne mississippi and my grandfather and grandmother are both from that area....i just want to dance cause i feel an even deeper sense of where i came from. so much is about african but i believe this is my other side since alot of blacks of america are african american: HISAAA!!!!!
I am glad these elders have someone interested in cataloging and preserving the old chocktaw and Chickasaw songs, My ancestor was Chickasaw Laura Colbert dawes roll # 962 and my fathers father was half choctaw. I heard a song like the one in this posting from my mothers Uncle after he came home from open heart surgery, he was on alot of meds, and says he does not rember singing the song,I will never forget hearing it, I knew he would survive his surgery after I heard that song.
park choctaw and iriquoi in my family proud 2 be it but i still look like light skin lol but it doesnt matter cuz i kno where i come from and thats it be proud and dont let basterds bring you down n shit like that

That someone can sit humbly, call themselves nothing and still have a
sense of self worth is baffling to the commercial forces, because of
percieved ancestral feuds, but out ancestors are just concerned with
the now,

not status or contrived ideas of honor, they are at the
highest level of oneness, thats how they help us, as they represent
the higher soul removed from time and at peace. Our ancestors are dead
to this world and laugh at it all in peace, perhaps as they did
through life too, or tried, they don't care about any feud just you
being your true self.
