Jaguar and Mercedes are doing amazing in their newer luxury cars, BMW isnt getting anywhere, the SLS is by far my favorite affordable supercar other than a vette and my favorite sedan is the mercedes CLS AMG lol
I don't see BMW making a supercar of any sort. Mercedes invented ABS, SRS airbags, and traction control. Not to mention brake assist and radar guided cruise control. BMW mad a switch that turns an engine on when its in gear. Merc wins hands down.

@Verification11 i have the 320i and if im honest, in terms of comfort i really dont see much difference... as in for 4 people on everyday use both are quite good (though i think the altis can take 5 people better than the BMW). but the main difference is with performance. once you pass 140 kmh you can feel the difference in both cars. the BMW feels better made. but i had several problems with the engine and interior compared to 1 overall problem with the altis. but thats just my experience :)

What's this SLS 65 AMG nonsense? Do you guy have any clue how much the engine weighs? Besides the low increase in power and the fact that the SLS gearbox couldn't handle the torque, it would screw up the 52:48 front-back weight distrbution.
And Mercedes has done enough GT's in the past, the SLS is a real sportster and despite not being very light and having a front engine, it delivers. A 458 may be quicker but it's spartan and a Mercedes will never compromise safety and comfort over weight.

Not really, the German manufacturers market their cars more than any other. Audi is a prime example. I personally don't like German cars as i think they are over priced for what you get.

They took advantage of them, gave them third rate platforms and parts and basicly stole their diesel technology. As far as trucks go, If you look at old WWII pictures, the wehrmacht pull all of their supplies in Mercedes diesel trucks. This car is absolutely amazing and easily the best Benz in years. However, think how fantastic it would be if they produced a model with the 65 AMG engine out the Black Series which has another 100bhp. Moreover, they could easily tweak that engine beyond 700bhp. How fast would it be then? I suspect 0-100km/h in 3.5 secs and 0-200km/h in less than 10 secs.
If only Mercedes could design a 7 Speed gearbox that would handle all the torque! Then they would definitely have a monster!!
mbzchris22, you've certainly got a point. It would be difficult. However, surely with all of Mercedes' technical expertise, they could create an SLS 65 AMG that could a) handle the torque/have good traction and b) develop a semi automatic that could deal with all that torque/power.
Admittedly, it would cost a fortune to develop but they could probably charge a £100,000 premium on a normal SLS. A 700bhp SLS V12 would be absolutely awesome.
Mmaesstrro, I disagree. I don't think too much in terms of horsepower at all. An SLS with a 65 AMG engine would potentially be a fantastic tourer. The 65 Engine is incredible. Think of all the torque and completely effortless overtaking. An SLS 65 AMG could potentially be one of the most effortless GT cars in history.
If I was Brabus, I'd be looking into the technical feasibility of doing this if Mercedes/AMG won't. They could charge a small fortune.

@UberWagen If you don't believe me, do some research. Mercedes is a parasite. They did nothing for Chrysler. They took advantage of them, gave them third rate platforms and parts and basicly stole their diesel technology. Did you notice in 08 right after the partnership ended Mercedes came out with 4 new diesel models? Look this information up if you don't believe me.

@xxMafia101 Mercedes has been building diesels since 1936(260d). Mercedes perfected the diesel passenger car. As far as trucks go, If you look at old WWII pictures, the wehrmacht pull all of their supplies in Mercedes diesel trucks. Mercedes merged with Chrysler because they were out of steam, why else would they make a move like that?

This car is absolutely amazing and easily the best Benz in years. However, think how fantastic it would be if they produced a model with the 65 AMG engine out the Black Series which has another 100bhp. Moreover, they could easily tweak that engine beyond 700bhp. How fast would it be then? I suspect 0-100km/h in 3.5 secs and 0-200km/h in less than 10 secs.
If only Mercedes could design a 7 Speed gearbox that would handle all the torque! Then they would definitely have a monster!!

mbzchris22, you've certainly got a point. It would be difficult. However, surely with all of Mercedes' technical expertise, they could create an SLS 65 AMG that could a) handle the torque/have good traction and b) develop a semi automatic that could deal with all that torque/power.
Admittedly, it would cost a fortune to develop but they could probably charge a £100,000 premium on a normal SLS. A 700bhp SLS V12 would be absolutely awesome.

You think too much in terms of pure horse power. SLS is first of all GT car, it's not a pure racer. Above all would you really need all that power?

Mmaesstrro, I disagree. I don't think too much in terms of horsepower at all. An SLS with a 65 AMG engine would potentially be a fantastic tourer. The 65 Engine is incredible. Think of all the torque and completely effortless overtaking. An SLS 65 AMG could potentially be one of the most effortless GT cars in history.
If I was Brabus, I'd be looking into the technical feasibility of doing this if Mercedes/AMG won't. They could charge a small fortune.

for a car that costs this much money - 3,8 secs is pretty shit. I mean if you at least got exclusivity I would buy one - but what is a point really?! I'd rather go for 458 Itala all the way..

He did'nt have more HP but the acceleration is the same like the SLR but with less HP. The power to weight disenchantment is much better. And the handling anyway.

im sure the SLR gets 0-60 in less than 3.8 seconds. I think they should have put the slr engine in this car, and made it all wheel drive. Then it would be real fast.
