I was listening to an Acoustic version of this song, that sounded like she said "I ran through the tower when the church bells trimmed, I hoped that they would clear up my mind..", which painted a clearer mental picture for me and made much more sense. This is clearly a song about a woman who had an unfortunate genetic mutation that allowed her to hear her heart. Every time she walked near a crush her heart pace would naturally increase and cause an unending din. this slowly drives her insane as she associates this sound with that man. She starts to see him as a demon, or some being of incredible pain. she at first goes to a church to pray that god would take the sound away. When that fails she jumps into a river and drowns herself.
