  • We miss you Marvin and i love this song my love is waiting

  • Marvin was a genius in every sense. he could write/play/compose/arrange/produce and sing on so many vocal ranges. He was simply a troubled man with the voice of an angel. Never equalled!!! My all time favourite. Absolutely perfection when it came to singing. One of the kings of soul up there with sam cooke/ james brown/otis redding/ray charles. God bless us with Marvin!!! Outstanding!!! Not his best song yet still brilliant. Born sep 1939 died april 1984 far to young and the worlds loss.

  • My favorite Marvin Gaye song !! He had so much emotion in his voice!! You can feel it 30 years later!

  • Gordon Banks u wrote a wonderful song omg!!!

  • ...I see on the inner sleeve that Gordon Banks also played bass and drums on this. The entire album was Marvin Gaye + Gordon Banks doing almost all the instruments in little studios in Belgium and Germany, with horns added in LA.

  • The LEGEND, Marvin Gaye!!! There really aren't any words that would actually do his legacy justice, but his melodic tones and heartfelt poetry will neva be forgotten. Marvin will foreva reign in the top 5 of R&B legends. Personally: 1. Sam Cooke, 2. Marvin Gaye, 3. Teddy Pendergrass, 4. Johnnie Taylor and Willie Hutch, and 5. David Ruffin. RIP to all these musical innovators.

  • can someone post a video of this song. i love this jam. god i miss marvin gaye. a wonderful man gone too soon from us all.

  • Great great great song!!!

  • I wish someone would come out with a life story for MARVIN. Maybe have Will Smith, or Terrence Howard play Marvin. Jamie, who would be a good person to portray Marvin, IS THERE ANY BODY ELSE THAT FINE TO PLAY HIM??

  • Just an incredible song! This man was exceptionally talented!

  • i got that album, vinyl...it's 2 dope

  • It was the b-side of "Sexual Healing" and actually hit number 34 in England, believe it or not, so in many ways it WAS a hit. One of his last while he was living.

  • Yeah Marvin's then brother in law Gordon Banks wrote this jam! And Marvin had to 'Marvinize it' as only he could!! Very nice song and you can hear Marvin at peace for one of his short periods on his life!! Very heartfelt and bitter sweet! RIP Marvin!!

  • Heat!

  • the song was released of course on midnight love, though. i think it's a favorite of a lot of marvin gaye fans. i think it was the b-side(!) of the sexual healing single.

  • This track ROCKS!

  • my fav of that album

  • it sounds like sexual healing, luv it

  • too bad his dad shot him...

  • this song is not unreleased.

  • The first time I heard this song, I was at Patrice Rushen concert in 1982. They played Luthers' Forever, For Always, For Love album and when I heard this song, I immediately feel in love and my brother went out and bought it! I remembered my siblings dancing to some of the songs of the album! Such great memories! Love that time in life!

  • This is one of my favorite Marvin Gaye songs. My favorite song is "Joy" from this same album. I hope someone posts that song on this site.

  • Sensational, one of his best

  • marvin was down on hard times when he made this album, you can tell from his voice. However, this was definitly a overlooked classic.Cop the album though, true marvin fans because its his last.

  • Actually Marvin was determined to make this album a hit. He was actually relatively drug free when he recorded this album. He of course "needed" the drugs during the recording sessions so he got hooked on them again. Nonetheless the downbeat quality of his voice is probably more due to "going through the motions". He wanted to make a concept album on the concept of healing but his handlers (mainly Harvey Fuqua) nixed it. If you listen to the SH sessions you'll see his voice is a lot more upbeat.

  • What drugs was he on? Heroin?

    It's a shame:(

  • Cocaine was his drug of choice. He tried weed earlier in his life and didn't really like it.

  • Yeah Harvey said no to Marvin during recording. its 'Divided Soul' Marvin wanted a concept album. But it ended up being a party album. I like this jam it is very heart felt and sad the irony of it. It was probably one of the final times you hear Marvin happy!! His death was a tragic loss!!

  • magnifique

  • my all time favourite

  • Midnight love is my LEAST favourite marvin album. It sounds dated compered to his earlier

    70s albums.

It did produce the great sexual healing though.

  • good that this song is on youtube.

  • my love is waiting simple percentage is really a hit a tube he would have of make pop video because she still went the bringing

  • This song was only released in Europe on 7" and 12" as the follow up single after " sexual healing".In the U.S. they released "Til tommorow as second single (U.S. R&B #78 ) My love is waiting reached #34 in the U.K. charts.

I think there was no video made for it. (maybe that't the reason for its low chart placing )I had the 12", it was the same as the album version. But at the beginning of the song when Marvin is talking, that part was deleted from the 12" version.

  • This is a very underrated song. This song was actually written by Gordon Banks. He was Marvin's ex-brother in law who toured with him during the last few years of Marvin's life.

He played most the guitar solo's on 'Midnight Love'. This song is SO heartfelt as you can hear Marvin making a last stand for his country, fmaily and most of himself. I listen to this album almost daily. This album is one of the most greatest album ever made. Period!

    I miss Marvin alot.

  • Hmm I never thought of this song in those terms. It was always viewed in my opinion as a clunky declaration to his 2nd wife Jan that he was coming back. I like your interpretation better though!

  • just discowered this song - amazing

  • Music

  • yes I agree that this album is a classic! I have it on vinyl its one of my dad's old records and I listen to it just about everyday

  • This was one of his songs that i loved but had forgotten about, thanks for bringing it back to me.

  • Someone needs to post a couple more songs from this midnight love album! Its a classic!

  • I agree but really someone should post more of the Sexual Healing sessions. The alternate mix of "Sexual Healing" is KILLER! I remembered the first time I heard it I kept replaying the song! LOL

I also prefer the alternate take of this song especially at the end when they repeat "when I make you mine" and at the very end marvin sings said line without the music.

  • Thanks the best

  • We need a proper video for this song, and a better sound quality. Can somebody arrange that?

  • Thank you for love of my song.

  • 2nd or 3rd best song on the album!!

  • i love this! thanks for posting!!

  • No problem. Let me know about jams you want uploading and i'll see what i can do.

  • Just Fantastic!!Thanks for the share

  • I like the song
