  • spiderman !!

  • Hats are awesome.

  • Fails to mention that this stuff doesn't really work. The nanotubes begin to bunch together very quickly and reduce the surface area. The tape has a very (i.e. uselessly) short working lifetime.

  • @Thisnameistaken11 Batman can afford having one time batsuits :)

  • wall crawling will soon become a reality

  • MINING ON THE MOON!!!

    or asteroids your pick

  • Oh i'm sure the military will love that.

  • this would be so awesome for pranks.

  • Then the military will snatch the technology up and make soldiers that can walk on walls and ceilings.

  • Now this is science!

  • "And even superhero suits, if that was need" Yes, it is need. For FUN :D

  • And ninjas take one more step towards becoming gods

  • thumbs up if you've once seen this on 'weird connection' !

  • Only one problem... Ya'll won't be around long enough to see the super rich walk on ceilings. They intend to reserve that fun for THEM and THEM alone. Just like super realistic sex-bots. Yum.

  • it missed the most important part of the explanation..... dumb report..... when you get something THAT small it starts interacting with the inter-molecular forces that keeps matter together; make a whole forrest of that and the surface tensions will act on those spatulae; it keep them stuck like were part of the material; however being like hairs makes it easier to peel off, unlike glue

  • seems like it would make scaling a wall rather simple. perhaps some security concerns there.

  • @IBMua the soviet bear approves

  • I am having about this in a speciel project at my university... the "spiderman" glov have been made but it can't hold a man... Jet.. there is been working on up scaleing the Force it sticks with... so soon it will be done... last problem is how do we get the glov to slip the wall so we can move the glov to next grib point (the hard part)

  • @MaZeeT maybe you should learn some english first..

  • @MaZeeT That's pretty cool. Has progress been any good?

And on a side note, do you happen to be German? Your spelling gave me a clue. ^_^" I'm just curious.

  • i agree

  • i was trying to use reverse psychology

    Its GECKO

    not geico

    heehee

  • thats not reverse psychology

thats an attempt at a forced spoonerism

you just made yourself sound like a retard

    and btw

    its geico

    not gecko

  • that wasnt a spoonerism

you take geico, the name of an insurance company as the name of a lizard. who sounds retarded? haha

    ps.

    Its gecko

    Not geico

  • i said an attempt at forced spoonerism

    p.s.s.

    its geico

    geico = insurance

    gecko = lizard/gecko

    ps.s.s

    Its gecko

not geico ( hahah the whooooole page)

    its gecko

    not geico

  • really?

    sure about that?

    im pretty sure that

  • Comment removed

  • lol

    superhero...

  • am i hearing correctly that they grew a non living substance on another. how is tha possible cuz then wouldn't it be not growing but manufacturing in a way? since its not living.

  • Google :synthesis then change school districts. lolz.

  • "am i hearing correctly that they grew a non living substance on another"

They mean "grow" in sense that you "grow" a crystal; they aren't manufactured by mechanical placement of atoms/molecules, they self-assemble via chemistry.

Really, that's how YOU grow, too. :) I mean, everything you're made of is non-living, and self-assembles itself via ordinary chemistry, it's just that the chemistry is A LOT more complex and builds materials and structures that work in concert to form a living thing.

  • ohhh ok thanks that puts it into perspective

  • dude,....i feel so stupid when ppl like you talk T_T....im cinfused

  • I'd like some Spiderman gloves & stuff too

  • The day they put this into gloves and boots is the day I start wearing my underpants on the outside.

  • Scientist succeeded in beating nature on this one, it supported more weight then a gecko could handle.

  • yeah, sell it to the army for thier black ops teams. now they dont need grappling hooks, which are noisy and often don't work eficently.

  • because black ops always operate in arenas with perfectly smooth materials everywhere...

  • Now why dont they just figure out how to make suits where you blend in with the environment? Like, study the skin of Chameleons or Iguanas!

  • i want gloves and shoes like thaaat

  • i wonder if cocacola payed that product placement lol. and i have a specific need for a super hero suit. and its cause thats awesome

  • superhero suits, seems to be the phrase people are picking up on in this video

  • damm and here i was trying to pluck hairs off geckos to put on my spiderman suit....

  • ffs can they NOT have an offensive sounding accent ?

  • What is offensive about the way they talk? I find nothing wrong with it. I think you are just a self-obsessed, American who has never left the USA.

  • Future uses of the substance include me crawling along the walls of my house for the LULZ.

You're a liar if you say didn't think something along the same lines.

  • Lol

  • i think this was for one of the robots that will soon be able to climb walls. it's on ted talks if you're willing to watch it, it's here: /watch?v=BUmOKfllAEo

  • I got a serious need for one of these SUPERHERO suits. ;-)

Would make our Investigation work much easier.

  • with the advancements in powered exoskeletons, now wall climbing, this has got to be a bad time to become a criminal.

  • They will get it too!

  • Geckoman...geckoman...friendly neigbor Geckoman...eats a fly...then soars by...friendly neigborhood Geckman...

  • @sonnyboi213 LOLZ

  • Look it's Gekoman! :D

    Not Spiderman! D:<

  • hahahaha stupid

  • this stuff is like ten years old...

  • Super hero suits if theres a need?! o no! But the good news is I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance.

  • omg... its the birth of spider man

  • Gex

  • *starts to sing spider-man theme*

  • "Even super hero suits if there is a need." ha! well, it would be possible, but would it be cost effective? that 1 small square they used coulda costed $2000 to make

  • Geico

  • gecko, dumbass

  • You obviously are too ignorant to understand what i was trying to say. I was refering to the gecko from the Geico commercials. I'm pretty shore all the smart people got it, IDIOT.

  • And you're obviously too ignorant to consider that it might be perfectly reasonable for a Norweigan not to have heard of Geico.

I'm not saying it was reasonable to call you a dumbass, however.

  • thanks to new scientist,,peter parker will have a new friend from now on

  • SPiderman!!!!

  • No! it's a geckoman! ;)

  • Rofl "Even super hero suits if there is a need."

  • hahaha, they should make a spiderman suit out of that stuff

  • Errmm - but you'd end up up stuck to everything...

  • Maybe just the hands and the tip of the feet for the suit should be covered.

  • Coca-Cola commercial!!!

  • lol superhero suits I WANT ONE! i wanna be spiderman...

  • A tug in the wrong direction says you're screwed, if they can create a material or add-on gadget that allows you to recover from a fall LIKE Spider-Man, I'd buy it.

  • awesome

  • interesting...

  • ohh please... this is old news, the nasa copy a chemical structure from a glue that is used by cirripeds (a specie from peru) to make a super glue that is used to ensable the spaceship pieces... and this was like 4 years ago... so ... people lost science news like 20 years ago...

  • oh my god, they post this 3 days ago? I knew this experiment was going on like a little more than a year ago. a little late, eh?

  • Being american is not a race, it's a nacionality, racist dumbass. GET CULTURE.

  • Omg you just show how ignorant and useless you are with those comments haha :D

  • how does this make me ignorant? all i said was is that Australia and its people have alot of culture. The Aboriginal people are well known all over the world for it actualy. so think before you go shooting off your air horn cobber

  • "so think before you go shooting off your air horn cobber"

and it's the statement on hispanics makes you ignorant.. now aren't ya happy you just had a fight on youtube?

  • what the fuk are you talking about? stop replying to my comments.

  • my god you guys are kids.. grow up -.-

  • I would totally buy one of those suits to effortlessly climb walls!!!! It would be so fun!!!

  • You are still pulling up your body weight, so it would be hardly effortless.

  • OMFG they should totally make a superhero suit!!!!!~ XDDDDDD

  • this was discovered at UC Berkeley BTW.

  • Seee, spider man is already revealing its secrects!!!, I will buy its suit and then Im gonna be spider man myself......hahahahahaaaaaa!!

  • can I get a superhero suit, without a "serious need":P couldn't they just make them for fun:)?

  • more like gecko-man

  • lol i give u thumbs up for that comment. agreed 100%

    btw, GECKOS RULE!

  • i take a wild guess here... but something tells me that you are not american..

    am i right?

  • maple syrup and basketball...what has mexico reallu contributed to earth other than Taco's, Burrito's?

  • hmmm... how bout half of america, Alejandro Corichi, Guillermo González Camarena, and the contraceptive pill, jackass

  • How about something more modern and useful. Sure the contraceptive pill is nice, but it was actually invented by a professor from Pennsylvania, the same place that Corichi got his PhD. How about something useful, like Zippers and insulin? Or penicillin? Wait... those were all Canadian inventions.

  • and now you've contributed
