  • i wanna fucking knock this bitch out.... GOD! her voice is so annoying!

  • @Lucskis she sounds like the voice on those orientation videos they make you watch before starting a new job

  • this is the original ratatouille, the other one in Ratatouille movie is just some VARIATIONS for ratatouille, that's Confit Byaldi

  • Didnt she say fresh thyme? that was not fresh.

  • Why does this video say to use a non reactive Pan when not of the ingredients( lime, vinegar, ect) are in the Recipe?

  • @JohnTheHutDweller Tomatoes are very acidic.

  • it`s not the same Ratatouille as the Ratatouille Movie :(

  • @knightcute22 It's a French Laundry recipe called Confit Byaldi. Google it.

  • its pronounced bon apeti .

  • is that it? i'll make tomorrow!

  • You just got had by online advertising.

  • dish in the movie is called Confit Byaldi it is a variation on ratatouille but its differently made, some veg are cooked and made into some kind of sauce cover with eggplant zuchinni and tomatoes and bake.

  • when you add the eggplant to the onion it dosent make the dish bitter ? or the bitternes goes away after you let it cooked fot the 10 minutes?

  • @nollieoncracks no it won't, you also can cut eggplant and zuchinni into 1/8 inch slices. I preffer them like that

  • wow thats so little food...,

  • all videos should be this simple...... good stuff

  • great video, thanks for posting this! I was recently in France and stayed with some friends. We are all vegan, and decided to make Ratatouille as one of the few traditional French dishes that is vegan. We had a great time making and eating it, and put the leftovers on top of a chickpea crust the next day. I posted a video of our Ratatouille-making experience as a video response, check it out!

  • The movie's ratatouille dish was more Iron Chef, very abstract and meant to be creative from the original dish, but this is what ratatouille really is. And it's really tasty ;]

  • This is what a real ratatouille looks like, sorry for those disappointed, but the one in the movie is just a luxury version ^^

my advice : put fresh tomatoes in it!!!

you can eat ratatouille cold or warm, with pasta, in a salad, in a "quiche", with rice or fish, its yummy!

and it's better served the day after you made it.

  • It is delicious and healthy.

  • Nice! I gonna cook some Ratatouille! Thanks!!!!

  • looks like shit compared 2 the movie (Y)

  • the one in the movie looks more fancy lol

  • @Dman88888888

This is the one Anton Ego's mom made.

  • @Dman88888888 but this one is way more traditional ;)

  • @Dman88888888 what movie?

  • i want to try the one in the movie

  • the easiest and best ratatouille i've ever made.

  • :D i'm going to try this version!

  • Ok Ratatouille but not a real Ratatouille dish

  • I really love this dish. I discovered it here in Europe.

  • I never knew what this dish was until now. Looks quite simple

  • I like the movie. The real dish looks different from the one in the movie in the final scene.

  • @SeFu2006

yea in the movie it looks like a block of sushi

  • @SeFu2006 because the cuts of the vegetables are diferent

    =)

  • very clear and simple explanation and demostration! thank you :)

  • looks easy to make...

  • Delicia!

  • my mum did it, beacause she luv the film xD lol

  • my word this looks lush.

  • You can add GOOD black olives ( green if not ). They are often better with the "stones".

  • this is the excact same video as redbook? you stole their video...

  • idoit

  • I like to throw the ratatouille into a casserole pan (after it has been mostly cooked on the stove top) and then add a little cheese on top and bake for about 10 minutes. The cheese really compliments the Ratatouille well... even if it is not traditional to Ratatouille.

  • ratatouille one more nice isay

  • This is wierd

  • The one in the Ratatouille movie looks so much nicer. But I guess he changes the recipe because he doesn't cook it stove top.

    xO

  • You also have to recognize that the one in the movie was a high-end French restaurant that made the recipe to look nice and made it in a really small portion. If you look at the flashback clip of the critic eating it as a child, then you would get more of an impression of what traditional Ratatouille looks like... even this one is less stew like than what most families would serve.

  • Right, yeah I should've factored that in - apologies for my ignorance. Yes I did notice that in the stove top and should've made the comparison but whilst watching this all the only image I had in my head was the one served in the restaurant. I guess, not being French, the one in the film, served by Ratatouille seemed more appetizing since I'd never tasted it before.

  • P.S. Was I right about the stove top vs. oven part? Haha

  • It is usually cooked on the stove top in a huge sauce pan, but some people cook it in a casserole pan in the oven.

I cook it on the stove top and then throw it in a casserole pan towards the end of the cooking because I like to sprinkle some cheese on top of mine and then use the oven to bake the cheese into it.

The one made in Ratatouille is started on the stove and then the majority is cooked in the oven. Check my favorites for cooking with Mickey (it uses the recipe used in the movie).

  • Oh right, I didn't see that bit in the movie (if it was included). The way you do it sounds delicious. And I will be sure to browse through your favourites for that video. Thanks for all the insight.

  • I think I'll make myself a fruit salad with fruit cocktail and marshmellows and mayo

  • yum

  • what...no meat???

  • it's a stewed vegetable dish, it's not supposed to have meat in it

  • douche

  • Well, it seems good :-) havent tasted it but .. sure its good xD

  • hey! why juz u don`t give this work 2 da rat.. juz like in the film ratatouille

  • I'll make this to impress some girl that thinks I can't cook, and I'd be like HAH I CAN COOK BITCH, SURPRIIIIISE!!!!! and that would be followed by sex, lots and lots of sex, m-mm

  • i hate everything that means you.

  • I'm gonna try this out at home.

  • WTF??????????

  • looks nasty....
