Thank you so much for posting this clip! Shivaree should be better remembered! I just wrote an article on The Contessas, with input from Suzanne Weir, for my blog if anyone is interested in their history. Thanks again for posting this great clip! The article is at raremusicalgems (dot) blogspot (dot) com. I'll be subscribing to your channel (just getting my channel set up.)
"This is where I came In" was the "A" side of this record. "I Keep On Keepin' On" became popular later and was re-released on a compilation Jimmy Webb album in 2005. Sharon Johnson, Susan Horton, Alyce Wheaton, and Suzanne Weir. The 2 "Suzi's" have found each other after many years. Does anyone know where we can find Sharon? Last I knew, she lived in Big Bear, California.
Thanks for the information and 'This is Where I came In' is a terrific song and record. Incidentally, which of the four girls in the video is Susan Horton? As she apparently inspired so many of Jimmy Webb's greatest early songs, like 'By the Time I get to Phoenix', 'MacArthur Park' and, of course, 'Where's the Playground Susie', she has my eternal gratitude!
This inspired me to get out my Whitburn book and look these four up. Apparently they must have been a local (Los Angeles) sensation, because neither of these songs charted nationally.
I love those hairdos the girls are wearing called "a flip."

Awesome video, but the first thing I said when I saw it was "Four Marilyn Munsters!"

Yes, their one and only (known) single " I Keep On Keepin' On" was released on the George Clements Productions label in 1965-

THIS IS a great video - its refreshing to see white chicks with a good sound, which was a rarity back in the 60s-

Both songs written by a teenage Jimmy Webb - the 4 girls who made up the Contessas were college friends of the budding songwriter.

She is the second one to the right from the left.
