  • I love those hairdos the girls are wearing called "a flip."

  • This is wonderful! The Contessas should have been huge! What an addictive song, and a beautiful sound! Thanks for sharing this!

  • "This is where I came In" was the "A" side of this record. "I Keep On Keepin' On" became popular later and was re-released on a compilation Jimmy Webb album in 2005. Sharon Johnson, Susan Horton, Alyce Wheaton, and Suzanne Weir. The 2 "Suzi's" have found each other after many years. Does anyone know where we can find Sharon? Last I knew, she lived in Big Bear, California.

  • @The1967contessa

Thanks for the information and 'This is Where I came In' is a terrific song and record. Incidentally, which of the four girls in the video is Susan Horton? As she apparently inspired so many of Jimmy Webb's greatest early songs, like 'By the Time I get to Phoenix', 'MacArthur Park' and, of course, 'Where's the Playground Susie', she has my eternal gratitude!

  • Well, there you have it

  • Well, there you have it

  • Gorgeous girls!

  • jimmy webb song

  • What were the other Contessas' names? We all know that Suzanne Weir was the lead singer-

  • Awesome video, but the first thing I said when I saw it was "Four Marilyn Munsters!"

  • This inspired me to get out my Whitburn book and look these four up. Apparently they must have been a local (Los Angeles) sensation, because neither of these songs charted nationally.

  • Yes, their one and only (known) single " I Keep On Keepin' On" was released on the George Clements Productions label in 1965-

  • THIS IS a great video - its refreshing to see white chicks with a good sound, which was a rarity back in the 60s-

  • I never would have thought - the white version of the Marvelettes!! - LOL

  • Wow, how cool! I just found out about this being on YOu Tube...Suzy Horten Rocks...you should see her now, she is even better.

  • Glad to hear from you, Suzy! I esteem you so much!

  • Both songs written by a teenage Jimmy Webb - the 4 girls who made up the Contessas were college friends of the budding songwriter.
