@r2kordmaa, every type of glider I've seen lands with the spoilers / airbrakes out. Old Slingsby wood ships, Kestrels, K6, K8, K13, K21, Discus, Pegase, ASWx, ASH25, Duo Discus... The only exception is the Grasshopper and that's because it doesn't have any spoilers.

It is what we call a ground loop,

The right wing was slowed down when it touched the long grass and this created the aircraft to loop

die leute standen da, weil es vergleichsfliegen war und das waren die punktrichter....die mussten da stehen und es war genug platz!!!

ringelpietz...man sieht klar das die rechte fläche in das maisfeld ragt und dadurch abgebremst wurde..die K8 besitzt keine radbremse sondern nur eine kufe mit rad.

geschwindigkeit augenscheinlich in ordnung..die K8 ist keine speedmaschiene :-)

zu bemängeln ist das ein paar leute zu dich an der piste standen.vielleicht der grund warum der pilot zu weit rechts flog..

D-8534 ist das im Video. An den Flächen wurde außer einer Inspektion aber nichts gemacht. Mittlerweile ist das Maschinchen aber ohnehin stillgelegt, weil der Gesamtzustand schlecht war, und eine "neue" K8 günstiger war als eine Komplettsanierung der Alten.

wenn mich nicht alles täuscht haben wir dem unfall die neuen flächen für unsere ka8 zu verdanken. das flugzeug hat nicht zufällig ein blaues innengestänge gehabt oder? ich kann das kennzeichen im vid leider nicht gut genug erkennen. grüße aus ohz

Erinnert mich an den einen Tag, wo wir schon am Einräumen waren und der letzte Ka 8 Pilot gleich nach dem Aufsetzen bei voller Fahrt links in Richtung Halle abbog. War ne glatte 90° Kurve, aber mit ner Ka 8 kann mans ja machen.^^

just believe hergigmbh. ;-) I also flew there on this day. That there are people next to the runway is normal on a "Jugendvergleichsfliegen". He explained how it has happened: He didn't react to the little crosswind component we had on that day.

His approach looked too fast for a start, and if he was in doubt as to where to land, he could have just landed further up the field...

Here's the proof why the pilot was not distracted by the people on the right ide: If he had tried to avoid them, he would have flown to the left - but he touched the field with his right wing, so he was too far on the right of the runway which actually was wide enough anyways.

Just believe me, i've been to the airfield myself and landed there, too

By the way: the people in the foreground are more than 30 metres away from the runway. It's all about perspective...

There were no people on the runway. At 0:06 you see some people who are sitting between the right edge of the runway and the corn field. It might look narrow due to the perspective, but actually we had more than 3 metres of space in between. Same with the people at 0:07, they walked between the edge and the field as well.

At our gliding club we try to keep people off the landing areas! K8s are usually flown by less experienced pilots, so he he might have been a bit phazed by the folks standing around on the edge of the runway. I'm glad that nobody was hurt and the glider wasn't damaged.

There were no people in the landing area. The runway was wide enough to land safely. He just wasn't concentrated.

It did not seem that the K8 pilot had much choice as to where he landed, due to all of the people standing around! Why was this allowed!
