Is it just me or does anyone else think this show is a bit silly. Why are scientists wasting time on this pointless guesswork? There's nothing but the general cycle of Earth's history to hint that humanity will become extinct. It's an interesting question but really??
@MegaTeacher25 This "parasite man sucking the life out of" the earth? The sooner the better? Why not just take yourself out and help "mother" earth by eliminating one more "parasite?" Wow. Another self-loathing liberal. I think the earth can sustain us just fine, if you ask me. It already has for millennia. Like it or not, we're at the top of the food chain, we're in charge, it's ours. I'm being somewhat facetious here but to say we're a "parasite" is completely absurd.
Has anybody seen Detroit? I don't think these skyscrapers will LAST 150 years considering how fast the Michigan Central RR Station has deteriorated. Not to mention other buildings.
Not only in the USA. You can find such localities in eastern germany or russia too. Look at Bitterfeld. e.g.. However the best long time experiment is the ukranian town Pripjet nearby Tschernoby. Having more than 200000 inhabitants this town is unmanned since more than 20years after the super-gau. Thus you can study how nature reconquers back its area.
Not having cable I never heard of this show. It was creepy and let totally cool at the same time. I have also pondered what the world would be like after man was gone
I might add to my comments that no matter what a few understand the true fate of the human specie, the majority will keep behaving in the same way. The more humans get far from mother nature, the fastest they create their own self destruction. Earth ecological system will take care of this specie and after humans dissapear, this will be again the garden of eden in no time. The power of reason is undeniable.
So, what are you saying? Abandon all science? Abandon any technology we might have of stopping an asteroid that destroying most life on earth? I'm pretty sure something like that would be far more devistating than anything humans could ever do to it.
No. Do not stop. There is nothing you can do because using what we call "intelligence" to survive at all costs is a characteristic of our specie; is what make us humans. Are we absolutely wrong compared to how mother nature and its eco-system works? Yes we are. That is the conclusion you can get using only reason, logic and critical thinking; projecting our destiny based on how we have proceeded through our existance.
Stopping an asteroid? you see? now you do not only want to control the whole planet and its system, but you want to control asteroids; tomorrow through what we create as technology you'll want to control other planets climate and perhaps beyond tomorrow control stars. But do not worry; like I said, it is what make us humans; I'm positive that before we stop an asteroid, we will destroy ourselves here; just a few will survive and would have learned the hard way.
Mother nature gave us the chance to exist and evolve for much longer time. How? selecting the strongest and the best amongst us; letting the weak die to protect and ensure resources for the strong ones, who reproduce with a strong one creating a genetic improved specie. We did it the opposite. We are creating generation after generation, a monster weaker and more twisted than before.
How degenerated is the human specie? Pick 10 eagles; they all look the same. Pick 10 tigers; they all look the same. 10 Lions, they all look the same. They are strong, well developed, adapted to their environment, in shape to hunt for themselves and sustain their lives. Pick 10 humans; one is sick, one is missing a leg, other is obese, another is dying of hunger; NO SPECIE in this echosystem is able to survive like that.
Agreed, however if we lived in the wild, people like that wouldn't survive. Our medical advances and safe keeping governments have kept us able to become weak and still survive. However, in an environment like we view here on this show, only the strongest humans among us would survive. It would be back to natural selection.
Exactly, and that is how it should be. Natural selection; only the strongest should be able to survive; that will ensure plenty of resources for everybody, keep a balance in the environment, create a more perfect specie. Our current level of intelligence, like religions, have the germ of our self-destruction. Only an evolution of intelligence based strictly on the use of reason and critical thinking will save a few to start a new world after this cycle.
You sound like a Nazi. So, what, people missing a leg deserve to die? Watch my video called "Rant: Social Darwinism". For the love of Odin, stop misreprisenting the theory of evolution!
NAZI like the original NAZI party? or the wrong concept of Hitler's NAZI? Answering your question, Yes, I think a person missing a leg deserve to die; but the sad part is, I am not the one who says that; is mother nature who determine that; if that person can hunt by himself and his family and survive, great! wonderful for him; but if he is eaten by a lion because he cannot run while I escape, it is sad for him, but that is natural selection;
if nobody dies, when will this stop? what we will do once we are 20 billion of humans? sleep one next to each other and eat processed soil? Perhaps if I deserve to die right now from a heart attack, I accept it; I wasn't genetically good enough to reproduce; a stronger and better one will reproduce, improving the specie and keeping the balance in population, habitat and natural resources for the whole chain.
yay! you mean start a genocide or what? drop nukes on China because they are to mush people?, spread new mortal deseases created in labs in Los Angeles or whole USA?... humans controls his reproduction by HIMSELF, it's called "birth control", then we have car accidents, deseases, natural disasters, plane crashes, etc otherwise we could be over 50.000 millions of inhabitants now
Birth control is a mistake; is anti-natural; and if we do it, is ineffective. Genocide? is a mistake; is antinatural. However, what we do, in massive quantities, is control and manipulate mortality; that is a big mistake and is also antinatural; we keep everyone we can alive; eliminate half medicine, and human population will start to control by itself again; have as many kids as you can, so those strong humans will survive and will improve the specie.
*sigh* Okay, you're obviously too stubborn, selfish, judgemental, and retarded to ever be reasoned with. Steven Hawkings, a disabled man, contributed lots to science. Does HE deserve to die? I pray that someone like you never gets to be in power. I hope you loose a leg so I can see if you still think that someone who is missing a leg deserves to die. Douche... >=(
The fate of humans in one: self extermination. Mother nature always win. Overpopulation of a degenerated specie, will lead to catastrophic climate changes that will turn productive lands into useless deserts. The weak human genetics will be unable to readapt to a new environment.
With genius comes: pointless luxury, cockiness, and stupidity to the truth. We feel we can beat nature, that we are invincible, which will be our destruction and all other highly intelligent aliens or others it's not human nature to believe themselves to be invincible it's universal nature for all smart beings.
I believe you speak the truth and how dare they give your comment a bad score. The weak and useless have grown in this world due to peoples morals. If this continues the problem born will out grow the normal causing social and economic collapse. However we can't be haste about the transition back to no medicine do to our pathetic immune systems.
But of course, with medicine, the most intelligent members of mankind might live long enough to make another advancement in technology. So it's kind of a double edged sword.
Do you really think that will happen? We have a very fast technological speed so fast that we don't realize that we allow the weak to live and let them populate. We have no cure for ADHD, AIDS, and many other very common or dangerous diseases. We can make your cell phone smaller but when it comes to things that matter we ignore them. We choose wants more then needs 9 out of 10 times.
I have ADHD and I DON'T: take medication, go to special schools, or make my self look helpless. simply because I know that even though it maybe harder for me I still do it. People like me in a world without medicine will survive those who don't even try deserve to die!

Without humans, The Earth would be the garden of Eden once again, in no time. We can reach that without dissapearing, with one condition. Eliminating medicine. Let the strong better species survive, the weak and ill, die. Mother nature decides.
Sadly many people believe we can find a medicine for all illnesses and out run the problem these people are either ignorant or in denial of the truth. The reasons other animals survive is the instinct that if you support the weak the whole group suffers.
Cruelness is relative to culture and our culture is blind of what must be done. We need optimists for hope and psychological healing in rough times, but the pessimists exercise caution and physical safety. we need equals of both not just optimists.
I'm sorry that I have so many replys but I have many things to say. The next ice age(coming very soon), robot uprising(90% sure it will happen),and yes a zombie outbreak(60% sure it will happen before robot uprising)The fate of humans WILL be chosen in this generations life time.
ah dont think it wont happen like this can be a hologram tho
