I wish I could have run trains thru Fostoria, its my favorite spot. I use to run freights out of Detroit's Oakwood Yard which is actually Melvindale, MI to Fort Wayne and Peru, Indiana and Toledo Ohio via the Ann Arbor railroad. Norfolk Southern now uses the ex-Conrail Detroit to Toledo line for all Toledo bound traffic.
Will you be going through Fostoria Thursday April 16th or Friday April 17th, because I will be there both days watching trains through Fostoria. Give me a honk if you see anyone there! GREAT VIDEO
what 2 dimonds does the NS Fostria district cross at F tower? are they both B&O former? and what Radio channels are used on the Fostria district of NS?
Oh okay. When I said "I assume the poster won't answer", I was basing my opinion off of the other unanswered questions. Sorry! Anyways, thanks for the info nonetheless. :)
I am assuming the poster of this video won't answer, but I have a question anyways.
Is the cantilever signal bridge at the beginning of the video, the distant signal for the Fostoria diamonds, or is it the smaller mast signal located to the right of the main further into the video? I am betting on the signal bridge, but was wondering anyhow.
Do you hear those people talking from the speaker and the numbers being dialed, what is the purpose for that? And it's not only freight trains that have it, passenger trains and even the subway have it too. Most of the time the speaker emits the chats of those people even when you're not listening or talking back. So can someone tell me why they just leave it to chatter?
On the NS line?

The buildings on the right side at about 4:40 have been demolished since this video was made and that's where the "rail park" is going to be.

Since you are an engineer, I would like to know a question. What exactly is a "distant signal"?
railfanner91019 3 years ago

The numbers being dialed are when a train calls to the dispatcher and the tone that comes afterward is the dispatcher answering.
csxES44DC 3 years ago
those tones you hear are to "key" up the dispatcher
