So their uniform is often the best "clothes" they have. And they just wanted to be "dressed up" for the TV, it's understandable. A good story - the Russian soldiers were generally good men, it was the hardend Communists, Jews and other ethnicities who were the most brutal in their rape and murder of Germans (and indeed all East Europeans) - the Mongol Regiments for example.. So their uniform is often the best "clothes" they have. And they just wanted to be "dressed up" for the TV, it's understandable. I think it's very moving to see them withh all these decorations knowing what kind of life they had...

A good story - the Russian soldiers were generally good men, it was the hardend Communists, Jews and other ethnicities who were the most brutal in their rape and murder of Germans (and indeed all East Europeans) - the Mongol Regiments for example..
