the idea that love birds live with one mate only is not true i have one male that has inpregnated two female lovebirds at the same time.....to make matters worse the two female lovebirds have their nests one next to the other...
@charmybird my lovebird's eggs just hatched and the father is doing a fantastic job! He always guards the cage and the little box in which the babies are in :) He's always making sure that the mother is fine and he is overall adorable!
@jonazfreek same with my male lovebird, iv had my female longer, but got her a male companion. my male lovebird had a mate that he had babys before, and was a fantastic father, but sadly he first mate died. when i first introduced him to my female, it tooks sometime, but when i put the nest box in, it changed them. hes always feeding her, and spends his night in the box, and half of the day out of the box. now that i have one baby hatched and three eggs to go. he spends alot of time in the box
@charmybird nice to know that this sort of thing happens in all speices of animals. including humens, just think of how meny dead beat dads we have around the world
@charmybird OMG my male lovebird was a very loving dad. He would lay his head together with his baby while it slept and constantly cuddle with them. The mom was the mean one who would hit the babies after they were old enough to eat on their own. It was only because of her that we had to take the babies away after a certain time.
my brother use to have the same lovebird and named it Storm or Stormy and he named it that because when it was raining she'll prace around the cage sining some song i made up but she died at the age of 2 T.T she was so cute
hey my female love bird is goin in n out of the box. but today she was in there for hours. i mean she did not even come out. just to eat n go back in n then she same out n srit up food. but i looked in the box but no eggs yet. so who knows if she is goin to lay eggs yet
Very sweet. I enjoy it so much when my budgies or my parrotletts have babies. In fact my hubby bought me a nice digital camera one christmas so I could document the parrotlet babies we had at the time. So cool to watch them hatch and grow so fast to be little birdies eh. Enjoy!

Thats weird because its feeding the babies near the entrance, normally they hide them from humans.

i have a question how can a love bird mate? because i keep six of it and no eggs. do they lay their eggs from a tiny house? or they are just shy
EuniceServando 1 year ago
From my experience the dad doesn't do anything, but other males are definitely no good! They would attack the chicks.
