@theonlylolking the bombs have been improved greatly since the great war, their yield to weight ratio is substantially different. i agree that it would never be enough to actually crack the earth in two or whatever, but certainly enough to wipe the earth clean of humans.
and after the destruction, there is nuclear winter and then summer to come in the aftermath. which would not simply make life harder, but near impossible to survive.

If a region is held by nato you can't just invade it without fighting nato troops thus immediately starting a war with them. Also as a minor flaw North Korea would never be able to take over south without help. Finally the US spends so much more on their military than the rest of the world so a war without weapons of mass destruction involved would be fairly one sided. On top of that you have the military power of the remaining nato countries and the western world which would defend each other.
