I have just watched your hree vidios on the basic angles required in sharpening the lathe tools. I have never seen such an excellent explanation as you have given. Your wood blocks demonstrate so clearly just what we are supposed to be aiming for. I will be watching more of your instruction as time permits. Thank You. Harvey
Mr. Cain, I would definitely like to see you do some lathe threading. Thanks for sharing your expertise. It means a lot to many of your fans. Best wishes.
I am searching to no avail for a cutter for my threading tool Craftsman No2031 threading tool holder. Any ideas where to purchase one would be appreciated.
Question: I understand the need to grind the top to compensate for the tool holder angle. However, are you still using the same side relief angles? Otherwise there is more steel underneath the cutting tip than with your gooseneck style holder. Or doesn't it matter?
Great stuff tubalcain - There is very few videos on threading btw.. Most of them are Computer driven CNC stufff.. Kinda takes the FUN out of it eh? -Rob

Why would you need the tool to be tilted at 16.5 degrees?
I am guessing that by extending or reducing the stick out distance very fine height adjustments can be made. Or is there more to it than that?

I enjoy your videos, but today I have a question. How about the tool grinding for a square thread such as AMCE. Thank You.

Yes--I increased the side relief a little. But not too much or the very tip becomes to delicate.
