At the end of X4 when you killed Sigma in Final Weapon in outer-space, however, he came back for X5 anyway. This was because you simply defeated another one of his battle-bodies, and not his Viral Form.

His Viral Form, first seen as the final boss of X2, must be killed in order to eliminate him permanently.

Killing the Viral Form on Earth grants the possibility to recollect his data and resurrect him.

But killing his Viral Form in space ensures that he can't be resurrected.

When you fight Sigma the final time on the moon at the end of X8, he looks like he's a black demon filled with green energy.

What you're actually looking at is his Viral Form, covered in demonic-looking armor. This form is often known as the Belial Sigma, though the fanbase knows it better as Devil Sigma.

I dunno guys. In the Japanese version of X8, Lumine explains that since Sigma died in the ether of outer-space on the moon, his mind completely dispersed and he will never be coming back again.

The only thing close to Sigma's return, would be another New Generation Reploid taking his form.

Beyond that, I think they've taken the X series' storyline as far as they can go without getting stale.

Keiji Inafune wanted to end it with X5, but the team made X6 behind his back.

In Command Mission, Axl's still looking for the origins to his Copy ability. In X8 he discovers the origins.

Besides, it's not as if Sigma was the only Maverick/Irregular that X and company would have to fight. They're called Maverick/Irregular Hunters, not Sigma Hunters.

@Celdrach I know that. It still want to know what happens to Axl. The closest thing we got to finding out Axl's fate, was Model A, which barely explains anything, because it doesn't have Axl's memories.

Which means he was supposedly someone else in the past. (I know what your thinking-Albert looks nothing like Axl. Dont forget he was one of the sage trinity. They modified their bodies in order to be immortal(Life span wise)

The fact of the matter is, there is absolutely no connection between Axl, and Albert/Livemetal A.

@Celdrach Sorry, I forgot he was related to Ashe. But I'm still not convinced that the "other me" Albert spoke of is his Sage Trinity clone.(Since he planed to make the Ouroborus like the real albert) And we don't really know if Albert has a connection to Axl or not.......And at this rate I don't think we will..... So we'll just have to leave it as a mystery I suppose.....

IN my personal opinion, I still think sigma could come back if capcom wanted him to. and I certainly hope that dealing with Lumine was a one-time thing. He's just not the same, besides, Sigma's been killed in far more permanent ways then being curb-stomped while his head's on fire for anyone that recalls. There's the brain-dump, decent song at least, I can stand listening for 10 minutes regardless of which boss it goes to.
