I understand how frustrating it is to waste an entire day to get a part that is half-way to the ship. Perhaps the next time you fight the Burrowing Snagret, you should use Blue Pikmin, so they don't have to get past the second Snagret. 5 of 5 stars for the rating.

If I remember correctly, dead creatures not brought to the Onion will respawn on the next day, which might be why you found the single Spotty Bulborb next to the rocket part. Also, when you have a single pikmin following you, you can pick it up with A for faster movement.
