If the son ADMITTED that he did it and has remorse how and why is the mother saying he's innocent? I understand her pain and I know its difficult for her but she has to realize that her son killed 2 innocent people. At 14 years of age YOU KNOW for a fact that killing is wrong. That whole "but he/she is only X years old and doesnt really understand what they did" is absolutely NO excuse.
Even though I have no sympathy for people who have done such a despicable crime as this, I still think the sentence is a bit too tough. There is no excuse for what they did, and it can't in any way be rationalised, but I think that the justice system should be able to give these kids a second chance. They should take their punishment, but maybe it would be better to give them a shorter sentence, like 40 or 60 years, so that they have a chance of repentance, and trying to live their life.

I think it was a fair sentence, they killed 2 inocent people, and god knows what they could do in the future when they get older. However that mother should be very ashamed. I know sometimes it can be hard to raise kids (god knows if she had to do it alone...) but 90% of these kids are completely neglected by their families, and that is very sad. Not saying it is an excuse to commit atrocious acts, as many people raised in the same conditions become good decent citizens, but when you grow up -

People lost all of their life savings - some were so devastated that they committed suicide. Others were forced to return to work in the retirement age because they no longer had money. All of this and I never once heard them called anything other than "criminals". No one blamed their race. Why?
