Can't believe I only found this now. About one of the BEST nights of my life! And a great shot of the back of my head in front of Roger / Simon. Yeah, I was REALLY into it!
Because, while "The Normal" recorded "Warm Leatherette," "Kraftwerk" had this sort of stage performance. They fit well together. Kudos to Duran Duran for combining. Very sexy.
I think it's great. Roger doesn't look too put out to me...he looks like he's having fun. I'm really tired of all the 'Poor Andy' whiners. Andy CHOSE to leave DD on his own power...jeez.
My point is, you said that Andy would have choked. That is irrlevent because he chose to leave the group anyway. What he would or wouldn't have agreed to is irrelevant. Also, please note I did not call YOU PERSONALLY an "Andy Whiner". But, if you ever spend any time on any DD messege boards, you'll see these HIGHLY annoying "They'll never make it without Andy!" and on and on. It's truly annoying.
Not to mention they've been 'doing it' without Andy for several years. I've been a Duranie sine 1983. I love all the stuff they do. This piece was during an experimental set they presented. That's what makes Duran great. They push the envelope all the time.
Well, I'm a year behind you. Saw them in '84 and fell in love. That said.... they had some, ahhh, interesting CDs from Notorius to Astronaut. I didnt think one way or the other about Warren, but let's face it, there is something about the chemistry of the five. AND.... I personally ADORE the techo set. I think they are marketing GENIUSES!!!
Whoa, I didn't think there was anyone as 'old' as me out their still swooning over 'em. LOL...oh wait, you're still younger. Dang. Now I have to feel like the oldest one again. *sigh* (Insert wink here)
Well, we oldbies have to stick together. I agree with your 'interesting' comment on some of the albums. Don't know why, but "Ordinary World" has grown to be in my top three faves. It is very musical I guess.
I disagree.... I dont think it is "irrelevant." I believe that the fact that the MAJORITY of the band (and I respect that majority should rule) chose to go this way had Andy making the decision to leave. Damned record company (IMHO) And he WOULD have choked on this. No disrespect to ANY of the 5 original members. Just an observation. :) To each his own.
like, "Dude, it so IS. They've always done this experimental stuff. It's what makes them DD." Which reminds me, I wonder if I should get a small Duran tattoo on my hip. I was thinking that diamond shaped sign off of 7 & The Ragged album cover (OMG...yes, I'm so old I have the vinyl of it!). Either that or their DD thingy. What's your pick? Advice...
Eeghads...where the heck did the rest of my post go? *blinks*
Er, okay, so basically what I said was "Agreed. I just didn't want you to think I was flaming you personally" or something simialr...lol... Man, technology...
Love it, but I can see how Andy would have choked! Poor Roger... never liked being in the limelight and now he's forced onto center stage on, off all things, a drum kit. The only ones who look relaxed are Simon and, King of cool himself, Nick.
Yeah, as soon as I wrote that I saw it on one of the other videos !!! oops. Anyway my hubby was trying to surprise me and get tix to this concert for our anniversary (which was the 2nd) on ebay, he didn't win the bid though. I am so bummed, looks like DD were amazing as usual.

"Poor Andy" whiners?
Can you HONESTLY say Andy would have agreed to this? I never claimed Andy didnt CHOOSE to leave... he most assuredly did.
your point?

Good ear - they did that song next, but I didn't record it! This was more of an unexpected surprise, since it is a cover song.
