MMA vs shaolin who will win? For me its anybodies game man , the person who trains harder in their art, and that never gives up until the very end, for me will win . After all a true martial artist is not a person who learnt alot of martial arts etc, a true fighter is a person who never gives up , who is determined and who will goo all the way no matter what, that my fren is the winner. peace =) Too it depends on luck etc, theres a vid shown that a MMA fighter KOed a shaolin warrior monk.
@MechPhantom like i said again , its anybodies game , if the MMA fighter win , he wins if the shaolin fighter loses , he loses, its never the art that lost, it he himself that loses. Coz we are humans after all, even the best makes a fatal mistake that will cost him the victory. Remember no one is undefeatable , nothing is forever. Respect all M arts , theres no best art only the "best"art that fits you, start training now and live life to the fullest bro . see you =)
Thats a pretty heavy beat.. by far the dopest I've heard on any wu shu videos, except obviously the Wu-Tang Clans shit wich is knocking.. I agree that frog style is insane! Shaolin Wu Shu forever!
It's funny how everyone on here that insults Kung Fu is most likely an overweight or out of shape fatty that would be the first person to get their rear ends kicked by anyone of these guys in the videos. UFC fighters are good, but they train for sport. Kung Fu fighters train for defense and to kill if attacked. Most people can't see the difference.
@TheCaptainQuantum thank you finaly another that understands but im not big on the larg circular moves i prefer japanese style techniques short and to the point im a student of combined arts mostly tang soo do and wing stun with a bit of koppojutsu
@TheCaptainQuantum hmm what style of kung fu i may have to give it a try just to look at it from a diffrent perspective the style i use is mostly tang soo do (korean karate) with some shotokan and a tad bit of wing tsun do you know of any kung fu schools in missouri? ones that are decent and do not focus on point sparring or on competition?
@hellwolf882 There are so many different schools and styles I could not be of any help in that regard. You just need to go in and check them out or do some research online and see what they are all about. My school closed down a few years ago so I have to practice on my own what I learned. Im a brown belt so it's no problem. Im really good at the basics which I believe makes me an effective martial artist in many respects. My city only has Karate schools no Kung Fu schools by the way. It's lame.
so my uncle has been taking classes for a year. he claimed he could beat my ass. so we did a fun mma match in the backyard. he got into pose and everything, i was just standing with my fists up. as soon as he got near me i fucking nailed him with a spinning back fist. he never talks shit.
@zFlawlessGamer no because kung fu teaches you to be humble and not show off something i like greatly now there are a few who have went into ammature mma not for show but just to test their art and thoes matches are almost never recorded
sadly, those "flashy gymnastics" take years of physical punishment and dedication to perfect, and leave the body in much better shape than that of the average chubbo looking to learn simple punches, kicks, and grapples to feel badass.
@jakeisawesome91 yea but why wanna train soo hard and practise dat and if in a street one will never use it and they know its not effective in the fight? Why dont just train easy but extremely effective techniques like krav maga, wing chun ,dats designed for street? Quite contradicting, coz the funny part is that u can train soo long and i know it very hard to do it but in the end its useless and even if the guy is very skilled in doing those flips and stuff knows that it will never work in fights
ok the thing is, anyone with any common sense knows not to use "flips and stuff" in a real fight. what makes you a fighter is not what style you choose. it's experience. i could kill someone using a block of frozen tofu. it's not a style, per se. but if i work at my technique, perfect my forms, and gain fighting experience with it, i'm pretty damn set. technically, every style is ineffective if you don't know how to apply it.
@jakeisawesome91 lest hope so ,yea thx for ur reply, but for me i rather jsut train fighting and sparring, coz to be good in something u need to just train in that,in other words u wanna be good in fighting, fight, dont do flips or perform ! yea thx for ur reply anyway , see ya
and as a side note, most younger generation monks have a great deal of experience with sanda. and a lifetime of jumps, flips, and hour-long stances takes its toll. one thing you'll learn about monks is that they know how to kick. hard.
@gungnir2357 sooooooooo wrong homie.... most of the acrobatics though very flashy help to add to the complexity and demand of the performance part of any martial arts..... funny even tae kwon do has incorporated these moves in their tournament forms for competition
@FlyHiGhness No I disagree. These sorts of acrobatics represent a watering down of the art, a shift in focus from combative to entertainment. The same thing happened to the ancient European martial arts. All that's left of those is the gymnastics that you see in the Olympics. (European style gymnastics were originally used for the same reasons modern martial artists claim for their acrobatics). I don't want to see that sort of thing happen to kung fu or any other art.
@gungnir2357 i see your point but you must do your research these acrobatics have been a part of martial arts for centuries. drunken boxing, monkey kungfu, ninjuitsu, di tang (ground tumbling boxing) for example. yes there are flashy moves used in competition purposes but many of these "flashy acrobatics" have a value when demonstrating and for physical developement. some of these moves are a part of what shows what you could expect from learning that specific style ie: the moves in drunken fist
@FlyHiGhness yea but of course in a real fight ,the last thing u wanna do is a flip or a fancy kcik rite? not only it wastes energy,it also very very easy to telegraph and its slow, and an experienced non-fancy fight will capitalize on dat and the guy whos fancy will get seriously hurt,if not killed. But yea i really respect all MA,but i just hate fancy and gymnastics dats all,coz it doesnt hv martial value, its not even martial actually to begin with. thx bye
If you don't mind me asking a couple questions, what all styles were featured? I noticed the Frog (which you so kindly pointed out in the video), as well as some stances that reminded me of Preying Mantis and Drunken Fist, but the flips could have been anything from Long Fist to Monkey. Also, I know it's completely unrelated, but would you mind telling me the name of the music? It had a great sound.
From what I seen, Shaolin kung fu is not reliable in a fight. But if I were to fight a Shaolin monk, I would lose because I have not trained as hard as they do. It is too flashy, too weak, and requires too much perfect timing, energy and distance.
Upside to it is that it has a lot of variation... I don't think I'll be able to predict a Shaolin fighter's next moves if I had to fight one.

I can't help but think that someone with mass and strength could overcome the techniques displayed here. Especially by someone who has some technique, whether that be kung fu, karate or TKD, ju jitsu, wrestling, aikido or judo (or even a boxer who knows how to check kicks). The acrobatics can only be performed by little people weighing less than 120 lbs, and are not of much martial arts value. Looks more like gymnasitics..
Martial Arts is a tool that allows people to obtain a certain advantage through training and study. Martial Arts is not absolute. However, its better to have something or some skill in fighting than none.
@trytryagain2000 you've gotta think farther than just what the form looks like. these monks train every day since the age of 4 sometimes. they literaly strengthen their bodies and minds, they learn to withstand pain, they learn speed, precision, power, stability. jumping around and doing flashy looking performances aren't just for show. they're performed fast, and develop control, accuracy and speed. The only thing these monks lack is fighting experience.
@trytryagain2000 Not true the acrobatics here are all so performed by people at 300lbs. The requirement is that you have to be in very good shape to do them regardless of your size.
@trytryagain2000 You don't really use the acrobatics in a fight unless you have to. I guarantee you that if any of these trained martial artists are in a real fight, they wouldn't even have to use acrobatic techniques against an inexperienced fight or a person who has never been trained in martial arts. Also just because their muscles LOOK small, that doesn't mean that they aren't really strong. Their exercises and diets make them gain very lean muscle. Never confuse size with strength,
