Not going to lie. I'll solve this now. Chris Cornell is not known by many because he is not a pop star and doesn't sell out like so many of them do. But if you ask any rock fan or fan of good 90's music they will tell you that he is one of the most internationally known rock stars of the last 20 years. He paved the way for so many singers and also started some great bands. His voice is so different from others that people would be genius to ask him to help in a song. Great voice, and great fans.

Well, mtv listed him as one of the 22 greatest voices in music (he was #12, not that I really care about lists or mtv). Course, everyone has different tastes in music which I try to respect but honestly, if you youtube some of his earlier stuff you'll see why so many people like him (like the song "hungerstrike" with eddie vedder from Pearljam). But, to each his own. :)
