  • I understand what you are saying, and I agree to a point,Do you not feel that the way that a Martial Art is taught makes a huge difference to how it's used from one school to another? Martial Arts Elements help street self defence I've found. My point being that I have studied Martial Arts with one instructor moved and studied elsewhere and found that the Martial Art has been seen from different eyes and trained differently but the same style.Enjoy your Vids hugely.Keep up the Good work.

  • This guy has it exactly right. I love BJJ but never considered it as a way of self defense, just sport and fun. Self defense is not being there, or calling 911, or a bat, or a gun. More than anything just being smart and figuring out how to stay away from bad situations.

  • i agree with this video. my main art is karate and i also train judo and BJJ as supplemental arts so i can have more well-rounded knowledge of grappling. the guys that do only BJJ (the fad art now) really think they're willing to take a punch to get inside and don't believe at all that one punch could ever end the fight before they can grapple. they also truly believe that they can armbar and choke out multiple attackers before being knocked out.

  • What i love most about BUDO is it don't mather what belt you have, there is always something new to learn!

  • You got a good point when you say JJ is about controlling situations, but if a guy knocks you down you better have a ground game. If you can get an armbar or something in those lines and just give it a good jank this arm, leg, wrist or whatever pops out or gets broken he'll just cry like a lil baby... punsh him a bit more stand up and just get home

  • The harder to doesn't mean they aren't good. They just take more dedication and time.

  • Kickboxing only takes 2 hours of my day and they are shut on Sundays! Plenty of time for facebook and keyboard warrioring!! :P

I wholeheartedly agree with you Luke, do it because you love it and don't get hung up on what the current fad combat art is.

Don't make fun of the force.....not cool.

  • im training to not talk to keyboard warriors , and experts ... working above all on self discipline ... good work Luke ! keep it up dude

  • Well said

  • In you opinion, Is it too late to train some sort of Martial Arts? I'm sixteen, and want to go into the USMC after college to be an Officer. What would be a good Martial Arts for me to train in? I'm thinking something that will test my mental and physical will. :D thanks and please reply :D

  • @hockeybrat95 don't get lost in technique land then. You will have to be fit as fuck and rely on training (that you will receive anyways - USMCMAP) that is based on gross motor-skills. Take up Muay Thai - that's my personal recommendation. Stay fit, train hard. You'll need it ;-)

  • wow, TeamWuJin. You are smart enought to be able to write. Good for you dumb monkey

  • @TheBallKeeper bawhahaha - nah, kid I used my Jedi mind force!

    BOOM!

Let's see your blackbelt keyboard warrior defense against THAT! LOL

Have a nice weekend playin' with yourself dude! :-D

  • What martial art would you recommend that I pratice to gain a lot of upper body strength in your opinion

  • @iurmantoday boxing

  • i want to learn how to do the one at 1:05 please

  • Lol makes u think dont it

  • Just like academics. There are 'applied' or 'theoretical' science. Doesn't mean one is better than the other, just used in different context and ways. Bruce Lee's JKD philosophy and yours seems to share the same idea to me. All martial arts have combative root, but developed in different ways. Learn to respect them all and learn from them all, but discard what doesn't work for you. I'm not gonna recommend Judo or Aikido to 8 feet tall basketball player, for example.

  • @samsuh1234 you fail to understand, that some arts are worse then others. They are worse because, for example, it is harder to learn. For instance- aikido sucks. If you have like all your life for trainings- sure it will work, but take boxer with 6 month experience and aikido guy with 6 month experience and aikido guy will be dead.

  • @TheBallKeeper I love the internet - its a field day for experts and critics! LOL

  • @TheBallKeeper

you dont know that and you dont know shit. there are way too many variables than just saying 2 guys train six months and then make them fight and whoever wins has the better fighting styles.

  • @TheBallKeeper AWESOME! Finally someone that doesn't just come out and say, "Aikido is shit, I took one class and got my ass kicked." But like you said, if you have a lifetime to spare and don't think you're going to get into a fight until you're a "Master", go ahead and train Aiki.

  • Your Awesome ! Very well said.

  • about time,..

Who'd really roll around on the ground trying 2 fight 4 a position or be on their back with both arms & legs being occupied trying make someone submit when u can't defend against other people stomping on your head.

there are ways u can arm bar etc/submit without being on your back just using

single hand so u have the other free & your in postion to have 360degree view as well being able 2 defend others & escape,..

Plus don't give chances, just go straight 4 a break!

  • <-facial expresions I've ever seen. But that only works if you don't have any other attackers, if else, fuck ground-fighting, I'll run asap. Anyways quite interesting to hear your points and see those skits of you training and travelling^^

  • About the part with the controlling levers and there use in real situations: I had it a few times that I was atteacked by a single person and got them into those ground-levers. Well theres no situation funnier in a fight than sitting there, perfectly save, pulling out your mobile, calling the police while your opponent lies there in front of you knowing that I'll break every bone in his arm/leg/neck, and so on if he starts moving. Also the faces of the cops seeing those situations are the best->

  • Hey Luke! What do you think of Muay Thai? You don't have a lot of Muay Thai videos, I like all your videos, but I also would like to see some more Muay Thai ;)

  • @GuessWhatIsMyName dude.. look through my vids.. there are Muay Thai vids!!! lol

I love thai boxing, Muay Boran and Krabi Krabong. I recommend it big time cos you don't learn to 'defend yourself' you learn to FIGHT and that gets you outta trouble!! ;-)

  • Mate there were some real pearls in this vid, well worded, diplomatic but no bs.

  • All arts are great in their own perspective ways, yet the best art of them all is living life.

  • Oh no Luke, you're going to get like 100 BJJ guys attacking you on this one LOL.

  • I love pajama's hur hur hur

  • as awesome as royce gracie did in ufc. do you think that he would survive in a streetfight for more than half a second. when the opponents friend or girlfriend runs by and stomps his face in. and beats him with a sign or fire extinquisher. maybe if both people were locked in a room and only one could come out.

  • @PavlovSandor yeah I hear ya man.. I still got mad respect for them but I do know what you mean. Fact is though - you can't predict things in reality. He could choke some prick out before his mates notice if he wanted to. I've seen a drunken aboriginal chick fly kick and knock out a trained Thai Boxer out the front of a club I worked at years ago.. Who would have picked that one?? LOL I dunno, just sayin' everyone's gonna do what suits them anyways, when it comes to it just make it count! ;-)

  • That was well thought out and very well worded.

  • I see you have done what few in martial arts do develope a keen critical sense which has led you to a practical "what works what doesn't work "view of combatives. As for those who challenge you to try UFC they only publicize their unfamiliarity with real violence other than shoving ego contests with their associates and other clowns they hang out with.

  • @niseikenpo ummm BINGO! :-)

  • silat>judo/jiujitsu

  • I wana see u on ufc lol

  • @shota91 hahaha nah I'm cool with what I'm doin' man. I'm no sportsman but either way both dudes are getting their head mashed and in my job we still need to use our brains ;-)

  • @shota91 You want to see a guy who trains for reality go play in a "sport" with "rules"? Why?

  • I like that you give an objective and practical view rather than trying to sway the listener to a this style or that is best perspective which you see all too often.

Its amazing what you see when you take of fhose rose coloured glasses :)

  • @tallguy2 thanks, I'm glad I wasn't misunderstood. Putting the footage (that I have) of me traveling and training I thought would simply be more interesting than watching me talk and also I like to share the experiences of training/self development. I personally think too many get a black belt and think ''right, I can open a school and be awesome now.. I'm the shit and I can't be told otherwise nor be shown anything NEW'.. LOL, as you can see I don't take myself that seriously :) Thanks Again

  • and if you can GET the fight to the ground

  • FIRST.
