And to think, her design in the movie is actually toned down quite a lot from the original way she was designed, because they changed their target audience from adults to children. From what I've seen, her old design involved her chest matching those hips, and the hips were a bit BIGGER. Like, give birth to a small ELEPHANT kind of waist measurements! They've gotten a LOT of complaints about her, lol.

Sadly, no. Most of the original designs and stuff for her was taken down a long time ago, very few were lucky enough to see it and it was hard to find in the first place. I don't know of anywhere that it can be found anymore. And as hard as it can be to imagine, she was much more suggestive than her current design. Blatantly sexual really. The original target audience for this movie was adults, but they changed it to a PG-ish setting to bring in the kiddies.

Shame. True shame. I would have loved a more adult animated feature. They didn't have to be gratuitous, just subtle elements. Something like Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame without the singing gargoyles. Big props.

It is a shame that everyone tries to hide real life elements 'for the kiddies', much like they're trying to rewrite history to make it 'gentler' and less violent. I actually heard that this movie caused a lot of controversy with the MPAA because there were a lot of "suggestive" themes in the movie or something and that it would've gotten a PG-13 rating unless they toned down all the adult themes. I watched the director's commentary, and there was supposed to be a scene with Chel in the bathtub where she was partially nude, but it got cut. Also, Miguel/Tulio's relationship was supposed to run deeper than friendship.

And, I do like that Chel has an actual figure and is built more like a real woman, and not like a stick like the Disney princesses are. I'm also sad that Dreamworks decided to tone down the original movie and target it to more little kids. Just because something is animated, it doesn't make it "kid friendly." I love this movie and would've loved to see the more adult themes have prevelance in it.
