UPDATE THIS WHEELCHAIR IS NOW 12 YRS OLD and FALLING APART Medicare is ignoring my needs and everyone else can replace their wheelchair once every 5 years! I just had my 38th operation, Please help me get this rule changed! In Home Restrictions Medicare
@MrMarchant71 I would so greatly appreciate ANY help you can give to me.I don't care what a persons personal political beliefs are I just know for certain about the human belief The one that I SHOULD be feeling as an equally treated individual and not neglected because I have brain damage and they think they can get away with it forever! I am now recovering from my 38th operation and this video was made so long ago my wheelchair just began its 12th year of service and is literally falling apart
I am certain wheelchairs were put into the made up GROUPS BEFORE 2006 when it went into effect. The IN HOME RESTRICTION POLICY has been a part of Medicares Reimbursement protocol ALL ALONG! It wasn't until THEN that they were able to enforce it by eliminating personalized wheelchairs that meet specific medical needs trying to FORCE people like me into NURSING HOMES because they get PAID BACK EASIER and MORE IF YOU ARE INSTITUTIONALIZED but I DISAGREE w This approach I'm able to live in my home
I hope you get your new wheelchair soon! that would be a great achievement for your cause! Just out of curiosity, how much would a new chair cost if you had to buy it yourself without medicare assistance??? thanks :)
@HookedOnCliff To replace my 12 year old electric wheelchair would cost between $20,000 and $30,000.U.S.Dollars. Then over it's lifetime it can cost up to another $10,000. to care for replacing regularly, batteries, arm and legrests and support features that wear out, tires every 4 months or so. Even my butt cushion costs 0ver $600. and needs to be replaced about every 2 years! I am so ashamed of being poor and having 38 operations Embarrassed 2B at mercy of OTHERS fighting to remain independent
thats crazy, I'm just glad they didn't quite do that one size fits all cookie cutter copy thing, my chair looks nothing like my grandmas. I'm glad I'm not group 4. Sorry to hear that, take good cear of the powerchair I hope you can make it last.
We are on your side. This is BS. I am looking into this issue for you~! One love all~!
