So, I'm a drummer, and originally, the synth drums bothered me. But I love them now. They're making use of the old drum patterns and sounds you can get off of electric organs. It's dated in its simplicity, using the limitations of technology that no longer bind us. But it's all done to give the effect of a funeral dirge, to enhance the minimalist organ. By the time I get to 1:55, it seems natural, that these are the drums meant for this song, and I'm completely engrossed in the melancholy.
