.... what? do you drop a bomb from the top of the tower at a cucco and then when it explodes climb?

no, he got the cucco, set it at the bottom of the tower and laid a bomb, then he climbed up, you can still climb during cutscene, that is why is almost at the top when the angry cucco cutscene starts
