the thing about soad is they are so versatile and so unique. i have gone through dozens of bands so far and moved from a one to another after a week or 2. soad is the only band i still like the same way i did in day 1. it's the only band that i can still listen to for hours and hours and not get bored.

I hate to say this cause I love system of a down, they're one of my fav bands, but they are pretty bad live (compared to the album recordings), especially if this performance in the Astoria is their best. The pitch sounds wrong in their singing and also just plain worse, and not that this is always a bad thing, but their guitar is pretty messy live too from what I've seen. I gotta compliment their drummer though, he sounds great throughout the song. SOAD is still my fav metal band though!

Ya you're right people go to concerts to see bands sound different, and I guess more 'authentic', but to me it doesn't sound different, it just sounds worse. The differences I'm noticing are just plain more sloppy instrument playing, and really off-key vocals. When I wanna hear something that's messy or 'raw' music in that sense I listen to grunge rock or indie or something like that. Everyone has their own opinion though so don't think I'm trying to say, "I'm right, you're wrong" or anything...

This is good live performance but thats face it it good never be as good as the studio quality version. Mostly based on the fact that there is multiple guitars in that song some of them being acoustic. And they only have Daron on guitar so a very small amount of the guitar parts could actually be covered.
