I made this video out of respect for both the ship & the band, because I believe the power & the lyrics behind this song fitted her so well.
However, WMG made a claim on it. I own the album, & I only made this video for personal use. I can't fathom why something like this would upset them. Their official video has probably been ripped from YouTube countless times using online conversion websites, but that doesn't seem to matter, nor does any AMV made by other users out of games/anime/music.
'England expects that every man will do his duty.'
With these words Nelson successfully inspired his squadron before the Battle of Trafalgar, in 1805, during which he died. At his death, Britain lost a complex leader who balanced a personal longing for honour and glory with a compassion and respect for his men.
She is a truly beautiful ship and a vital part of the history of Britain and the world. I wish this ship was sailable, like our USS CONSTITUTIOn(I guess they sail it like once a year or something like that) It would be an amazing & beautiful sight, the VICTORY in the Solent with its 3 acres of sails up & all its guns out, like that fateful day in October 1805. Picture that!
greatest ship in the world, flag ship of britains great hero,i would love to see a dreadnought type though uss alabama or texas, its tragic we did not keep kgv warspite rodney or vanguard.
As a novice student of the ships of sail and war of on the high sea's and of course, of Lord Nelson, this ship is absolutly breath taking. Good Work! Huzzah!
thank you for putting up this vid...closest I can get to the Victory...for now (I hope in the future to eventually come across the pond and see her myself :) )
I only live about 4 hours drive from her and I can't get there as much as I'd love to. It must be even more annoying when you're a few thousand miles away across the ocean.
Save up and come see her soon.
I'll be getting down there at the next available opportunity.
Oh yeah definitely need to save up and get over there :)
And yeah, bit of a bummer to be across the ocean from there, but maybe I can also arrange to sail across in a nice ship as well, as I've never sailed before, either ^_^
She's not a replica you know, she's the real thing. She's undergone major restoration over the years and most of the cannons are replicated as are several parts of the rigging, and no wooden tall ship will ever have 100% of her original timbers when she's seen many wars. She is still the one and only genuine HMS Victory; the oldest still commissioned warship in the world.
just think if someone today were to replicate this ship exactly it would be almost impossible to recreate it. Remmber that this ship was built with HAND TOOLS ONLY, no power saws or drills, just sweat, blood and time. Our modern society has forgotten these skills.
I couldn't agree more. Maybe nowadays we can build things cheaper and faster, but even with modern technology we'd struggle to recreate something as magnificent as the H.M.S. Victory.
I think the song is bloody marvellous. The new Nightwish is just as good as the old, especially with this single. Having seen tributes to the Royal Navy using cliched patriotic ditties, I thought it was refreshing to do a tribute to Britain's fantastic Senior Service using a Finnish metal band instead of Elgar. Gotta love that "hiding amaranth"!
I think of Victory every time I listen to the song. There's something there that really draws me to her and gives me a great sense of reverence for her. Amaranth fits the bill perfectly in my opinion. Most of the lyrics fit her and what she stands for as well.
This is just wonderful. Very moving, and though modern, the music fits the subject SO well! Your love of this vessel, respect for her and her crew, and respect for your history is a great thing to see!
Made in the image and likeness of the Spanish line ship San Felipe. I congratulate you that you have it preserved

Thanks for all the comments guys.
She truly is amazing and her upkeep is ever so important. She costs at least £1.5m a year.

Magnificent ship, I have been onboard her a few times. Can't wait for my next visit.

What a mean looking ship! It is miracle and a blessing that she is still with us today!

She's a fitting tribute to one of the most incredible sailing vessels ever built by the hand of man.

Indeed, and isn't she the most beautiful and magnificent one of all?

I think it's a shame such skills have been lost.
Still, it makes me proud to be British!

Beautiful ship, been aboard few years ago.
32 pounder cannons on lower deck are so fuckin huge like 10 feet long...wow!!

Isn't she just?
The video is meant to highlight her, everything she stands for, and the reality of what happened on board her.
I could tell you a lot more about Victory as well. I am heading to Portsmouth in the new year just to see her again. I can't wait.

Wow! I never would have associated this song with the Senior Service's flagship. Well done shipmate!!

Thanks cromwell88. You like the thinking behind it then? What about the song itself?

Thanks. I was going to put text with it, but I decided not to, purely because I think the images speak loud enough with that song as their backing.
