  • Love your collection. take that blade scout transmitter apart... grab your soldering iron and switch those sticks. that would drive me nuts.

  • i think typing "blade scout" is easier than typing horizon *bs, then having to write a legend to explain the "bs." i think ur target audience would have another, more natural word association to the term "b.s."

    passive aggressive commenting?

  • the controller is set up like mode 4!!

  • as a mode 3 flyer, i do have to say that the yaw control is on the proper stick. NOT EVERYBODY FLIES MODE 2!

  • bought one of these. so far damaged top blades but they are not expensive to replace. A little fiddly though for my eyes. what I found is if you take your hand off the sticks it drifts to the left.. dont see a way of fixing that. also I bought a spare battery that would not fit in the heli or the trans. the shop replaced it no bother. Cant wait to see if Dave modifies it!!

  • Hey Dave, ever think of doing a one bladed co axle? Take 1 blade off the top and 1 off the bottom but the opposite side. I wonder if it would work? Well it would be a 2 bladed co axle but you get the idea

  • I got my dad a blade scout.. at $60 here in Aus I couldnt resist. I have let him fly my MSR quite a bit to get him use to heli's. Ive been flying helis for a while now... I had first go at his new toy. I had so much trouble trying to get used to it. I crashed this more then I have any helicopter. haha... I fly Mode 1 so having the rudder on the right is very hard to get used too. I was hoping someone would find a way to switch the sticks over, or bind it to DSM2 tx. Cos its a brilliant heli. :D

  • Great review! Played with one of these at LHS. Only problem is my left hand kept trying to turn that tail. Owner's belief is it cannot do BNF with other radio. If you figure out a way, let us know. I may get one for niece and nephew. I think its a bit advance for my son still. What a shame. I really...I mean...HE really wants one. Haha.

  • Great review. I played with one of these at my LHS and it was a heck of a lot of fun. My left hand kept itching for more to do though. I asked the owner if it could BNF with another radio and the opinion was no it could not. Seriously considering one of these for niece and nephew. Unfortunately I think it would be a little over the head of my son still.

  • It is really good to see experienced pilots not giving the Scout a hard time, they all seemed to enjoy it for what it was. I was not aware it had dual rates and it showed a fair turn of speed when the higher rate was selected. Yet another great review, thank you very much for doing it.

  • Dave, I didn't quite understand (english is not my first language): The Rudder is on the right stick, ok. Then, what else is the left stick for, besides throttle?

Very nice review! Especially for the back-in-time display of the first ones!

    Thanks Dave.

    Ar.

  • @argat11 Thanks very much. The left stick has only Throttle up and down. If it at least would move like a rudder stick (and do nothing), it may "feel" a little better, but it is fixed. I think I am going to see if I can switch sticks around. Thanks again. Dave

  • @NightFlyyer Thanks Dave. I'll be looking forward that video in case that conversion is possible (something tells me it is).

    All the best!

    Ar.

  • @NightFlyyer i think it would be just be easier to use another tx with it ether your DX6i or the stock on that comes with the mCX2

depending on how the brick is setup it might even put the rudder on the left stick

  • Great Stuff Dave!. The main difference between old tech and new tech, is that old tech smells a lot nicer (c:

  • Your the Man! Truly an Inspiration!

  • Very nice as always!!

  • I really enjoyed the day at Donovan's. I felt like i was there enjoying the days fun,Done in classic Dave style. I hope you and your family have a happy and safe holiday this season and thanks again for all the work you put into entertaining us.

  • @bloodhound122 Thanks so very much. I am pleased you liked it. I wish you also a happy holiday season and Happy New year.

  • Remember your video on the Inca flying machine . could you do another video on building your own Depron plane .

  • @Bthackrey Yes, the Mayan flying machine. I would like to build another, now that I know it flies so good. Stay tuned and thanks for the comments.

  • to be very honest dave. i work in a hobby shop called hobbytown usa in virginia beach virginia and i have to say. as many as those i see get sold. i have yet to see someone come in looking for parts. we also just got in a new heli thats like the mcx2. but way more stable and a longer battery. now we only sell "hobby grade" and i have to say. its impressive on how this new one thats like the mcx2 but way cheaper. only 90 dollars. and i say its giving blade a run for their money. check it out!

  • and ps. i got a mcx2 and love it! need the new msrx thats coming out

  • @dewman584 Great. I can't review em all you know. I only review what I buy with gift certificates as I did here at Donovans, or on my own. But if you send me one of yours, I will certainly be happy to review it, compare it, and and point everyone to your store who would want one.

  • @NightFlyyer oh i know. same here. but when i get my hands on one of the "ares md 500d cx 100" ill send it to you for reviews. but we was suprised how stable it was and how well it handled. plus haveing seperate speed controllers for the motors really suprised us. we tried breaking it. it would not! but thanks for the comment back. ready for more videos dave!

  • @dewman584 check out the 4ch coax micro heli on hobbyking. basically an mcx for 32 bucks. i bought three, so my friends and i can dogfight. we attach strips of toilet paper to the skis and try to fly underneath each other and cut the streamers. you should carry them!!! i keep telling my local hobby store, which sells the syma s107, that they need to sell these, because they are 4 channels and cheaper than the 3ch syma.

  • If Trudy likes it,then it has to be a good one. I might just pick one of these up for my Grand son. He loves flying my Blade MCX...lol If he can fly the Blade then he'll have a blast with this one. How long does it actually go on this small battery??

  • @da959 around 6 or 7 minutes since it is a smaller battery but its also using less channels

  • @da959 hAHA. THAT is great. Trudy does love it....She said it's "adorable". It easily runs 7 minutes wide open and longer if you take a 2 min cool down break every 3 minutes. You will have a blast with this one too. Happy Holidays.

  • I so wanna get one, i'm impressed from how damn stable it is. And one thing i look for in rc helicopters is no wobbling ! the stabler and the prettiest and impressive it is to me. Too bad i live in europe... shipping is expensive, i guess i'll have to wait till a copy of it gets sold where i live.

Nice vid Dave, love seeing the grandpas fly the helis, makes me happy to see them entertained at their age.

  • Nice review, Dave! I have my hopes on the MSR-X heli, which is due to come out. I hope you also will be reviewing this model with your praiseful expertism.

  • WOW that ford is immaculate. So you invented the technology that is used in mainstream hobby helis? Do you hold patents? WtF a single blade heli is awesome...Does the new scout have a servo? How much was it?

  • @ashesoneeight Thanks kindly. Yes, I do own a few patents, trademarks and copyrights, including the NoTar Hyperfly Design, which is actually owned jointly by me and Kyosho.

My 1 bladed experiments have even impressed me and are fun to demo. It is a new learning curve.

Theres 1 servo in the Scout for forward and aft. Theres no left or right cyclic or servo, thus the reason it is so stable. I paid $49.95 for mine. Thanks for the comments and happy holidays to you. ~NightFlyyer~

  • @NightFlyyer Thx for the info and happy holidays to you too. You are the RC heli god. I wonder if the physics applied to your one bladed heli could be applied to real helis, give D.A.R.P.A a call lol

  • 5:27 "There's no helicopter in the world that can do this"...Dave--You haven't tried the nine eagles Solo Pro V(V1/V2). It's a FP heli--that is 95% as stable as that!

  • You should fly your first ETRM heli! But only if you are ABSOUTELY sure that it would come back in one piece :) That would be really cool!!

  • nice little heli that Blade Scout, very smooth indeed, I like, it's great fun indoors. Happy holidays to you and your family Dave.

  • what was that little plane? it looks like a lot of fun! can you tell me the name and maybe even post a link? :) btw, can we trade lives? you got so much amazing things!

  • @wildwilco If I am spotting correctly, That's the eFlite Vapor RTF. They can fly indoors and outdoors (with no wind). According to eFlites site, it'll set you back 130 bones, Ready to Fly.

  • Well i still use my blade msr when their is nothing on the tv ..It still give me some fun ...

is that your model t ford as it is a great looking car .

  • you never fail to impress :) happy christmas and a very prosperous new year to you and your kin x

  • @xxkil I appreciate your comments and long time loyalty. I also wish you the best of Holiday seasons. Live long and Prosper. ~NightFlyyer~

  • You are truely one of kind, Dave. I so enjoy your videos....I just might go and get one of these myself! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

    Jay

  • @jaygdav Thanks very kindly I appreciate your comments and also wish you the best holiday season yet. ~NightFlyyer~

  • Very nice! I have been flying helis for quite some time but this scout still impresses me! I first picked one up at my local hobby shop and when I got home it just sat on my dresser for almost three weeks, "Its just another co-axial heli" I keep telling myself. When I finally broke my pride and opened the box I was so amazed on how well it performed! I even let my ten year old cousin who has absolutely zero flying experience fly it, and he was able to fly it up and down the hallway. Great Review

  • @ThatGuyWhoFanDubs Glad you like it too. It is a nice small package for sure. Happy Holidays and thanks for the kind words. ~NightFlyyer~

  • The blades are unbrekable...

    Ah, don't break 'em!

    :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

  • @hasidavid2 Haha. Well my phone is supposed to be able to take a 4 foot drop too, but I don't drop it to try it. LOL. Thanks for the chuckle.

  • Another great little video, Dave. Didn't take long to fill up the new garage, did it? He who dies with the most toys, wins! At least that's what my wife tells everyone my motto is...

  • @roastedghost Haha. You got that right. I need another garage already. Thanks for making me chuckle. Dave

  • Ahah love it! You should make a more detailed video about your model A! :)

  • @ideeman1994 Thanks. I will do that someday when I can get him out. It is snow here now. Thanks for the comments and Happy holidays.

  • @NightFlyyer You too!
